How mages are doin on 85?

Sorry if similar topic was already made. Still I wonder how are they at lvl cap on beta in both pvp and pve? Because I'm lvling one now and I don't want to be dissapointed
P.S. I'm not asking for them to be op I just care if they're competive enough ? If their dps is 1-2k lower than let's say lock it's okay as long as they can do sth

    - 1-2k dps okay? lower than locks okay? am I hearing this right?

Im mage too , and i heard that we pretty suck. Not really on dps but on mana. On fights longer then 3 min we are screwed.

    Son... I am dissapoint...

You could've picked any other class, why had you pick a mages greatest adversary, those pathetic mage-wannabes, that dust that only is worth to being wiped with a wet tissue from the surface of the planet?

    (tl;dr - mages hate locks and vice-versa, don't try comparing )

Well, we aren't the best in anything, but we don't suck either.

I haven't had any problems in 5 man dungeons as fire, if you're smart with your impact procs while avoiding CC you can do some pretty impressive overall damage.

I've done almost all 25 man testing on beta as a mage, and yeah, our damage sucks in comparison to most classes (single target). Frost seems to be on top in beta. Fire if you use molten armor you go oom very quickly unless you plan on spamming free scorch when you're oom which is a terrible idea, you can sacrifice dps and use mage armor (which i've been doing and have absolutely no mana problems), Arcane also has mana problems and dps output is quite low. I enjoy playing fire the most, and fights that require AoE it is very nice. Our stats drop tremendously at level 85, i have around 17% crit and 500 haste. So very few hot-streaks as fire, ect. Who knows what blizzard has in store for mages when this goes live, hopefully we get a slight boost

    Who was in the top?

I've heard that warriors got really buffed and is topping the dps-meter or is it any other class that's kindoff buffed atm?

Warriors and Rets are topping most the meters

For refference, watching yesterdays Al'Akir testing, on 10man kill try, mage, lock, rogue and DK were all in 14-15K DPS range while warrior was doing 21K sustained.

I haven't seen my DPS numbers on my mage but my arcane mage has never had mana issues.

Also numbers pass hasn't occurred yet.

Hmm! We've only did 25 man testing, and I don't think i've seen anyclass sustain over 15-16k dps on a single target fight in any enounter, not counting gimmic fights. We did Al'Akir yesterday. Most were in the 12-14k range, with putting ranged on the outer ring in p2 so we dont have to move for tornados to maximize dps. Mages just are aboslutely terrible as of now, imo. Only fights we are good at have multiple adds (fire anyways). I'm just frustrated with mage class in general on beta. I've tried about every spec and fire is just so horribly RNG dependant, one time i can sustain 16k, the next 11k, I really do believe frost is the way to go at this point in time for Beta raiding.

Frost is my favorite spec so I don't mind that it is going to be competitive with the others, although I do believe that they will give the other specs some love before everything goes live.

On the Warlock note anytime one of them gets out of control or talks smack all you have to do is show them this

yeah this tier looks was one of the main reasons why I wanted to roll a mage looks especially great on mages without hunches of any kind (human, belf, nelf, dwarf, gnome)

It's acceptable since it's beta though, numbers go up & down the first month. But when the problems havn't got fixed for Raid encounters I have my doubts.

We've still got about a month and a half of number tweaking ahead of us, and even after cata ships I'm sure much more tweaking will occur. I wouldn't worry too much.

New beta build and no changes. This is starting to worry me.

The numbers pass will be in the next few patches since the BIGGEST focus of this one was the buff to raid bosses and the nerf to MS mechanics.

I meant mechanics wise. With such a low MS, they can fine tune what the real problem is in PvP (hint: it actually is a gear issue TO A DEGREE), and with bosses being buffed and taking longer to kill, they can see mage DPS is subpar and that mana is retarded to manage as a mage (LOWER THE DAMN COSTS ALREADY OR MAKE EVOCATION WORK LIKE GOD DAMN ASPECT OF THE VIPER). Anyway, here's hoping I don't have to sit through another tier wondering why the warlock set bonuses are a slightly better version of mine (looking at you t6 4 piece).
