does anyone use their fire elemental anymore?

usually in boss fights ill drop the fire elemental totem and let him do his thing. but now with all the improvements to searing totem, which one is actually worth more dps? has my friend the fire elemental gone to join my earth one?

Fire elemental still does a nice amount of damage and is probably still better then Searing totem. However i'm not sure if it's worth glyphing for Fire elemental in raids where the bosses are longer then 7 minutes.

when i use mine i put him down pop wolves then bloodlust and by poping fire elemental u get an extra c/d "Fire nova" which comes into your rotation, it can make up the damage lost from searing flame dot and 5x LL

Depends on the spec I guess.
Elemental still get their 10% spellpower buff with Fire Elemental, so I'm pretty sure it's good to use for them.
For Enhancement I'm not too sure, with Searing Flames not stacking with it and all.

Its a dps increase for resto shamans.

I drop it every boss fight I can. I use my ele totems in pvp, I used the hell out of them leveling. I drop it in a few places as enhance ... Last boss in Stonecore for example.. Star shard things in VP.

probably not enhacement unless its for aoe pourpose , but as elemental the damage its doing its really good compared to searing totem, to bad it seems to be dying to some random/aoe damage depending on the fight

I actually ALWAYS forget about it. Funny how that works.

Maybe it's because I'm usually resto and don't have to worry about dps. I only dps when I'm in a guild group and somebody else wants to heal.

^^this. Use it off CD as ele. At minimum its worth it in heroics.

It's always been a dps increase for ele. It's only in question for enh because of their new searing functionality

The elemental's damage plus the addition of Fire Nova the shaman spell make me think twice about that statement. I vant numbas! XD

from what ive seen, with the right cooldowns fire elemental could prove to be a good boost to dps on shorter boss fights, but with longer boss fights, like most all of the raid bosses now, searing totem might be better to use... but hey, stick with your personal preference

Enhance fire elemental is a no-go unless it's for an AOE purpose, and it's always an increase for elemental compared to searing totem.

thanks for the responses guys. so from what everybody has been saying:
1) many are undecided on its benefit for enh.
2) its a definite dps increase for elemental, but I don't care.
3) popping it for resto? really?

I've been using it as elemental. I wait for my Stump of Time to Proc, hit my glove tinker (Intellect) and then drop it. Increased Crit and Spell Power =]
