Hello
Okay so i am wanting to buy a CoD, I do not care about New, or Old. Or gameplay, But simply the player populations. So out of all of the CoDs. 1. 2. all the ones above MW, Which has the most players currently?

It will always be the most recent one, in this case, Black Ops.
MW2 does have a good population still as well due to some prefering more modern guns.
Most CoD players are like sheep, they all move on to the recent CoD's. So I'd say Black Ops
Plenty of people still play CoD 2 and 4. Not so sure about 3 though.

The people saying Blops would be wrong. MW2 and MW1 still have more players than Blops. And surprisingly, VAC has caught on to quite a few of the newer hacks so MW2 is pretty decent (at least that i have seen) at being a low hacker population (talking PC).
Being that a ton of people disliked Blops, they went back to the previous installment (MW2). Being that MW1 is a heavily modded game/community, lots of people still play that game.
CoD 4: Modern Warfare has the most multiplayers still playing, even over BlackOps
CoD 2 Has the second most multiplayers still playing. Dont believe that just because a new CoD is out people flock too it, they flock to the best multiplayer experiences which is in the above.
Enjoy!
MW1 & 2 are full of hackers in literally every lobby. I wouldn't recommend either of them. (Even on XBL)
http://store.steampowered.com/stats/ Shows MW2 and Black Ops since they both use the Steam Cloud. There's a way to check CoD2 and CoD4 but I forgot how, towards the end of MW2 though CoD4 I remember seeing that link for the site and it showed people playing CoD4 more and CoD2 was right behind it.
In conclusion, philefluxx is correct.
CoD4, CoD2, MW2 and Black Ops is the most played in that order.
Ya that's the other link that was supplied. MW2 and Black Ops you can check the exact numbers from Steam Stats as you are required to use Steam to play it, CoD2 and 4 though you aren't required to use anything but a good portion use xfire. So basically you look at xfire and see that more people are playing CoD2 and 4.
As of right now:
Call of Duty 4 - ~64,485 per day
Call of Duty 2 - ~35,821 per day
Modern Warfare 2 - 21,983 at 5:30pm EST
Black Ops - 16,978 at 5:30pm EST
Call of Duty 1 - ~4,705 per day
(As I said, not everyone that plays CoD 1, 2 and 4 aren't required to use xfire so just add in a few hundred to those 3 games and then you'll get a decent rounded number.)

It's more of a hobby that got popular. If you want to really play FPS games, computer is where you play. Computer FPS games destroy console gamers any day of the week. Not because they are simply better (they very well could be), but because a mouse/keyboard setup allows for much more precision and faster movement than a controller does.
I think halo would like to have a word with you on that. mouse and keyboard allow for better aiming but in all cases of movement and any interaction with vehicles dual analog sticks are superior

becuase xbox live and steam are the same thing huh.
I recently reinstalled cod4 just to play the star wars mod. I rarely see hackers on MW2 anymore and if they are there they do it blatantly and then leave the next match. As annoying as it is, it is no where near as bad as it was a month after launch.
