Tell me about Dragon Age 2

So i just started playing DA2 the other day. I know i'm in the minority here, but i absolutely couldn't stand anything combat or companion related with Origins. However, the combat and companions/stories in DA2 are near perfect.

My question is this. im at the end of act 2, and already regretting some of the choices i made. I'd like to 're-roll' another toon (currently playing 2h warrior), but not sure if i will get burnt out on the questing through act 1 and 2 again.

    How is the replay-ability?

Are there unique quest lines for war, rogue, and mage - or do they all follow the same basic quest line, with only your choices affecting things?

Many hated this game, but i enjoyed it. Lots of replay value, no harm in rerolling.

combat was dull in the first one. combat in DA2 is fun but i think it took a far too many steps into anime style combat, not that its a bad thing.
story was alright but i didnt understand what the main goal was.

Don't let the haters stand in your way. Da2 was superior to DaO. The combat was better, the characters a lot more interesting, the cutscenes better etc. Even the story was a lot better... Sure you mainly spend time in Kirkwall... And? The place is awesome. The ONLY thing I seriously disliked was the conversation meter thing, with the Good, neutral and evil options, that was too easy.

It's not the best rpg, neither was DaO, and it's no Baldur's Gate, but I say play it and enjoy it, it's great.

its about as replayable as the first one. Dialogue and character reactions to your own character are different. Combat and where you go to get to the end, again, the same.

    only choices.

things I didn't really like about DA2 (I liked it played hours of it)

if you're a blood mage, you're still anti blood mages, saying its dangerous n shit, like wth?
that alot of the caves being the same.

also, they could have made the hard combat battles a little different sometimes, the only hard mobs are assassins and they are annoying as hell, would have beenf un if they had given some other stuff some more strength and mauybe nerf the assassins a bit etc

I first played as a mage... stopped right before the second big boss (trying not to spoil)... started as a rogue... having tons of fun... i chose a different path this time, got Isabela (which is funny and naughty as hell)... It's a different play style from the mage... It didn't get to me, re-playing everything, had even more fun

Well, if you truly like the game keep playing with the choices you made, that's what makes the game more spicy, when you finish just play again with other choices simple, it's what i do.

For some reason it seems to be mainstream to say "anime style" and mean it in a bad way. /Facepalm

On topic: fantastic game, I loved the characters and the plot and the combat but I didn't like the recycled areas. If I'd give DAO a 10 I'd give this title 9.

Played through it 4 times now...twice as a mage and twice as a warrior. Fun stuff.

DA2 actually bored me to tears, they made it far too 'lowest common denominator' and come on, an RPG with 1 city how fucking boring can you get

*sigh* The game is still enjoyable, but there are some hideously crippling flaws.

Reused maps. Plot holes. Ridiculously stupid and hypocritical characters that decide to take a prestige class level in COMPLETE FUCKING MORON at pivotal points in the storyline.

In a lot of ways it's better than the first game, but in other ways it is much, much worse. It's worth a rent, at least.

Every class follows the same basic storyline. But if you do play as a mage you sometimes get different reactions from NPC's.

It's a great game, just not a great bioware game. I preordered it though and don't regret it at all.

there isn't much that changes in the storyline based on character class. Rogue, mage, and warrior are all capable of doing the same questlines with the only changes being certain dialogue options and slightly different outcomes depending on those verbal choices.

An example being that a mage class in some situations might find themselves in more fights in cases relating to templars or subdued mages.... but then again, a mouthy rogue or warrior with a softspot for mages will likely find themselves in those same fights.

Only real change is when you play mage or the other classes and your sibling. (It's not possible to have 4 warriors or mages in your group without modding. 4 rogues is possible with DLC.)

Baulders gate was so unforgiving in conversations, I remember one guy had 6 options, and he was like"WRONG" And everyone died...thank god nothing like that has been around for a while that game was a bitch

Honestly, an RPG isn't required to have more than one city. You do more in Kirkwall than you do in ME's Terminus system. The real crap shoot is how the story was handled and then the attempts to have Origins affect DA2... 3 side quests and a couple cameo's is hardly something I'd expect there.

Dragon Age 2 certainly is one of the best games I've played.
The first time experience was great.
Completed the game as the neutral funny, charming guy, but halfway I already looked forward to being the deadserious warrior!

It's 'replayability', for me, is limited to the three conversation tones and sides you can take.

Edit for DA2 justice; I loved the setting also. Kirkwall, a city of legends! Think it's very cool that it's city based.

That's nothing, some of the big dragons had 12 options... and they all resulted in getting eaten... Ahhh that was such a good game.... And a bitch? I completed it in my early teens with a rather broken english :P If you want unforgiving and a real bitch, try Demon Soul... DAMNIT that game is hard!
