What to use Crystalized firestone on?

So I just won my first firestone (second one to drop for us)
I can upgrade either the boe neck, ring, my VP libram OR scales of life, obviously of those 4 scales of life is the one to upgrade but at the moment I'm not using it, I'm using spidersilk and essence, to get my self to CTC cap.

Is the H Scales of life good for pally tanks?

EDIT: I'm also considering just passing it to our DW Frost DK as he can upgrade his weps

A DPS upgrading his weapons will probably provide more benefit to the raid than you upgrading any of those things, especially if you're unsure what to use them on. Give it to the DK while you figure out exactly what you should upgrade first.

Would have to totally agree, of the 4 options, the trinket would be the best upgrade, but seeing how how you cannot use it, I would say pass it to the DK

Yea sweet I'll prob do that.

Do pallys actually use H Scales of life though? or even in full decked heroic gear would it be better for me to still be using essence

In fully decked out BiS gear, you are well over the CTC cap assuming you use 2 mastery trinkets, so it would be pretty viable to drop the essence for heroic scales

Pretty much this guy said. Give it to mage for example - upgrading his 378 staff will give him ~600 dps boost

Of all things to upgrade, the staff is one of the worst things to waste a firestone on, there are much better weapons that drop off bosses

same for the DK. just upgrading his MH weapon is a 600 DPS boost.

Honestly, I wouldn't use Scales of Life, if I needed more stamina I'd gem it and keep the mastery trinkets with better uses than a heal from those scales.

My guild's method was to upgrade weapons/wrists etc and then /roll when the only thing left is thrown weapons and librams etc.

only spend firestone on dps/healer weapons/trinkets. Using it on a libram is nothing short of blasphemy. The only thing that really worth upgrading for a tank is the neck, but the neck has low stat budget, so it's after every dps/healer upgraded their weapons/trinkets.

Passing it to the DK is a Huuuuuge upgrade for him, while basically marginal for you. There are too few firestones dropping to waste them.

    Correlation does not imply causation.

Frost dk weps , tank trinkets and relics.
Caster dps can get better / equal weps while the things mentioned above are BIS.
I might have forgotten some, I dont know all classes, but as said dont waste it on weapons just cause its a weapon, look up if its BIS or for your guild realisticly BIS ( dont count on baleroc / rag heroic items f.e. )

We give ours to Fury Warriors and Frost DKs first. I suppose a good rule of thumb would be: Can I get something equal/better from bosses? If yes, don't take a firestone.

(I play Arms by the way in case you want to get all uppity about "lolz bet u lost ur stone to a dps/healer/tank")
Me sorry. Not do bad again, honest. :<

We're handing them out in this order; Wep / trinkets > Non Relics > Relics.

Our first firestone went on a warlock wand (I know, the guy isn't in the guild anymore), but I've passed any I've recieved to healers to upgrade daggers (we have no frost dks), and after that had happened, I was struck with this dilemma myself. I decided that, since I can CTC cap with stam gems and a single mastery trinket (with mastery/resistance elixirs + mastery food), I could pick up the 650 stam from the scales (works out slightly better than using a mastery trinket + stam flask, if you count benefit from the resistance). If I hadn't got that I would've dropped it on the Firebound Gorget however, the normal to heroic version represents around 2 gems worth of stats (give or take).

The usual way it works is Weapons/trinkets (weapons first, naturally)>other BoEs (belt, rings, neck etc) > else. So if you get one, the scales is a viable upgrade.

Unfortunatle DPS'ers have a way better use of the firestone than what a tank / healer does. So i'd pass it. The reasons being what i just said, and that it drops so few of those stones anyways.

Uhm - IMO you shouldn't be using that trinket anyway => that one's already out.
Then there's neck and ring - both are BiS afaik, but they also have threat stats and the upgrade isn't that high. Same goes for the libram - the budget is so low you will hardly notice the difference.

It's usually best spent on weapon upgrades (mainly the 1H str weapons, there are enough caster weapons that don't need Firestones, dunno about the hunter weap.) or the str trinket.

I would like to applaud you on your selfless action. You have objectively displayed the facts and listened to the responses.

Your guild (and that Frost DK) is lucky to have you.

    i did Neck - Ring - Libram

but we alsow agreed in the guild to first give firestones to weps, then melee tinket then amu/ring/bracers then librams

    Brainless!

Pass it to the DW Frost DK.
