So, how do I convince my father to allow me to buy a corner desk for my computer? He doesn't want anymore furniture in this house, and for good reason, we have a shit load of furniture for only 3 of us living here, my sister is now off to college, but really, having my computer on a short little table that was made 100 years ago? This table should be used as a coffee table and nothing more. =S
My old desk is 100 years old. Nothing wrong with age.
red panda red panda red panda!
Not exactly made however with computers in mind. And trust me, what I'm using right now, is not a desk, I have my keyboard on my lap, computer on floor (shudders), monitor and 2 speakers on the table with mug of coffee in front of it. No writing space for the most part, it's very messy. A corner desk would make my life much easier.

Wow. Where'd you get it from? I really want to get one of those motherboards but that's pretty gross to hear. =S
Just bought an upgrade finally, been playing on an old comp for over a year after my laptop broke, which wasn't that great either..
Going from this:
Some shoddy motherboard
Intel Pentium 4 3ghz
2gigs of god knows what ram
ATI Radeon x1550
Into this:
Asus P8P67 Pro B3
Intel Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz
8 gigs of DDR3 1600MHZ
ATI HD6950 2GB
I'm ridicilously psyched!
From inet.se, so a swedish retailer. Not known to handle "broken pin" cases that well from what I've heard.
=I
I too have a laptop to fall back on, an i3 and Radeon 5650M. But meeeh. I had fun projects going on on that stationary and salvaging them from the 6 hard drives will take a lot of time, not to mention I miss a lot of software licenses on the laptop that I have on the desktop.
I was sooo looking forward getting my PC back up and running today. This day sucks! hard!

Wishing I had used my brain and updated my Vertex II's firmware before filling it up with OS+Programs.
My next opportunity will be when I buy another Vertex II for some kickass Raid0 action (which should be soon)

I just built my first desktop a couple days ago. Let me tell you.. there is nothing I've found to be more stressful technology wise than building your own computer.. the thought that I would drop something or the machine would simply start smoking was always in the back of my mind. I was on a bit of a budget ($700 USD) but I think I got a pretty good machine running. Definitely going to be upgrading it.. I'm just not sure what would give me the best performance upgrade with a single purchase (if anyone could chime in at this point, that'd be super :])

Oh god, almost shat my pants...
All of a sudden my PC rebooted and I was like WTF... upon restart my SSD was suddenly gone :S So I went into the BIOS, no sign of it. Checked cables, all good, replugged them to be sure and yes, it was back in the BIOS. But I was not able to boot Windows on it. Dicked around in the BIOS and now it works again (thank god)
Anyone else had this before, I sure hope this isn't the first sign of a failing SSD?? Cuz if it is, I'm going to RMA it asap, don't want to wait until it breaks down completely..
Some infos, maybe useful for somebody

Get an image of the SSD so you can bring it up to pace later is what I'd suggest.
