100 is indeed ridiculously low. It may not stay this way because of the feedback they're receiving on the comment, such as:

They specifically said it's some other factor besides influence, actually. I don't care if it can be expanded, it's ridiculous to start a guild at 100. That works well for new guilds, but there's plenty of large-sized guilds that are wanting to start up immediately when the game is released, some of them xferring over from other games, with members well over 1k.

Yar, we'll have to see what Anet says about the whole guild size limit so see just how bad it'll be for us. Hopefully it'll just be something that we can increase quickly.

I meant that they said you increase guild size through another method besides influence, not as a reason for limited guild size.

Also: If WoW (a game running on an engine around 10 years old) doesn't lag out listing so many hundreds of alts through the guild list, then surely they could design GW2 to not lag out performing a similar function.
