My choice would be Warhammer 40K universe. Just downright terrifying.

That or the Fallout/Fallen Earth one. Ah, honestly 40K isn't that bad, find a sweet feral planet or a far away pleasure planet to stay on, try to avoid the Imperium and Inquisition.... Though there's always the odd chance of a Tau/Necron/Ork/Eldar/Dark Eldar/Tyranid/Anything invasion of course....

I think this and Fallout are the worst. While Dead Space certainly sucks, it's not something a lot of people will be going through. Same with Amnesia and Silent Hill. Diablo and Fallout has the whole planet being a terrible place to live.
