I browsed through it quite fast, but what i could tell, it wasn't a "real" marriage in a way, a some kind of traditional ritual. There isn't sex involved in any way and the boy will be married to a woman of his own age when he is older.

Agreed. I also don't see what the fuss is about. It's obviously not a real marriage. She described it as playing. They don't live together. Have sex or anything and the kid intends on marrying someone his own age when he gets older.

Haha, yes that's probably true. It's funny to re-read the thread with this perspective in mind.

Probably interesting to note that people's tones would be less agreeable even if everything else about that was kept constant and only the genders were swapped.

According to the quotes in that article it's all just a "show", a ritual for ancestors, part of some cultural tradition. No sex or actual vows or anything like that.

It's very unusual but if it's truly part of their culture and isn't going to lead to an actual relationship or sexual antics then I don't have an issue with it. Adding to what a couple of other posters have pointed out the woman really does look very good for her age.
