before transmog the best leveling greens and twink gear were ridiculously expensive because max level players leveling alts could probably afford to buy them.

No one really should ever rely on the AH for leveling gear. Ever since Vanilla, leveling guides have always suggested the AH as a last measure and that even then you could level without (and had a guide with which quests got your class what you wanted, atleast until blizzard streamlined the process in later expansions). All the good guides suggested to skip the AH.

If you think leveling gear is overpriced you don't need leveling gear from AH. On low level you will replace it from quest or dungeon drop in 20-30 minutes anyway.

Some of us are quite patient, careful, and intelligent with respect to our transmog auctions.

Personally, I maintain about 800 pieces of gear for auction, with an average value of about 2000g apiece. And they're all pretty much worth it.

Meanwhile, MOST green items are worth very little and can be obtained quite cheaply.

Re: Transmog has destroyed my servers low lvl gear market

That aspect of transmogrification is definitely irksome to me. I remember vanilla through Wrath buying low-level greens to help round out my gear while I leveled and afterwards began leveling alts. I always appreciated the players that charged less than maybe they could have, and I try to do the same for newer players or those who are returning and starting a new character. Unfortunately, there are AH barons on both sides of my servers (Blizzard, take Trollbane back, please /whimper) that snap them up and re-list at 500 - 700 gold. I've pretty much given up trying to "pass it along."

The market works OK for experienced players who know they don't need to buy AH greens when leveling. I think it must be bewildering for new players though. You get to level 30, still have gray or white boots for whatever reason, go to the AH with 10g in your pocket and see everything costs 500g. I would be turned off.

Blizzard has done a lot of things to make the game more accessible to new players, but explaining the economy is not one of them.

Don't like it, don't buy it. Simple as that.

ALso there are only particular items at the low levels that are of transmogeable value.

Those who are putting up all greens at high prices thinking about "transmog" are morons. Their items will not be selling very well. The problem is, quite a few of them just vendor the items or d/e rather than put it up at lower prices. Some do, but not enough to feed the demand for basic low level items for the lay player (but anyway, they shouldn't be relying on the AH for it. Casually check the AH for someone with a bit of sense putting up these items, but otherwise you can rely on dungeons and the vastly improved quest reward setup)

Please keep thinking that and spreading the word! I don't need more people in my lucrative horrible, horrible market where I sell everything at a loss or never at all.

I rolled a new alt on a roleplaying server to test the low level green selling, as i got quite interested in if the stuff actually sold. I just bought everything cheap and undercut the next guy doing it. It took me 3 month to make 860k, some of it sells for insane prices.

You don't need low level gear, the quest rewards are very adequate.

It's the same as yours. However, I don't care for them because I don't buy the gear off the AH. Quest Greens/Blues, and knowing not to pull the entire room depending on which class you are, can take you all the way to 90. Most greens I get end up being on the AH to profit off of the situation.

But seriously, there is literally no point to going to the AH if you actually plan on buying gear to use it. Unless you're maxed, and you want to look different, you're wasting gold. The AH isn't destroyed. Your idea of how good dropped greens are is too high for the reality of the situation.

I dont know for the life of me why you would want AH greens going up against players in hierlooms in unblalanced low level pvp BGs. just go LFD in the early levels (20,21,22) of a bracket and get decked out in full dungeon blues and then stand a better chance at later bracket levels (23,24).

As a matter of fact I cant remember the last time I ever bought a gear upgrade from the AH. Probably a dps trinket at the start of Cata.

I have full heirlooms for every class and spec, the only reason I was even looking was because I am leveling one particular character through only call to arms and at a certain point I was a lvl 40 wearing lvl 16 boots and bracers.

You can sell useless junk for stellar amounts of money, how is that destroyed?
Noone needs to buy any gear from AH ever for leveling, so that is not an issue.

Transmog isn't the sole reason for this, the prices of leveling gear also reflect overall inflation in the economy. As max level players get richer they have more gold to spend on their alts and this effects pricing. The only way to solve this is to provide some green gear on vendors with slightly less item level than you get from BoE green drops, like they did in Jade Forest for lvl 85s. It might not be a bad idea.

If people are putting up all low level greens for 500g+ (for transmog) then they're morons. All low level green "sets" look like garbage with few exceptions like maybe Outrunner.

As I'm leveling I search the AH to upgrade my gear every few levels and I've really noticed since transmog low level gear on both of my servers are asbolutely RETARDED expensive. There's absolutely no other explanation for why people are charging so high for lvl 20-50 items, literally nothing is listed for under 500g. I know 500g isn't really that much anymore but for these items it is very overp priced. How is your servers low lvl gear market? Is there no real change since pre-xmog or is just the same as my servers?
Why the heck are you buying leveling gear anyway? who does that quest gear is perfectly.

Every (and by every, I mean every) single green you put in the AH will go, and almost no matter at which price you put it in. There a hundredth of guides and other TSM profiles about this, keep thinking "they" are dumbasses it only boost the market.

Between heirlooms, crafted items, quest rewards and enchants you should be able to get along fine. You don't need transmog gear. If you want transmog gear either pay up, grind it yourself, or sit down.

At some point I tend to find the heirloom trinkets kinda lackluster so I go for quest rewards. I don't particularly like questing but for trinket items like Power of the High Chief, Strength of the High Chief, Ancient Draenei War Talisman, Ancient Draenei Arcane Relic, Dabiri's Enigma, Death Knight's Anguish, Fury of the Crimson Drake, Harbinger's Wrath, Serrah's Star and Talisman of the Tundra I'm willing to do it at level. Even if the bonuses are kinda meh, the animations are pretty fun. Anything to lighten the grind...

And there's lots of transmog gearsets you can make up from quest rewards too. Just off the top of my head I can tell you that Scouting, Nightshade, and Borean Embrace come in multiple colors and mostly from quest items, some items are available even from vendors for mere silver. The same applies to other armor types, it just depends what you want.

Sounds like you're not doing it right.
