I'm from the UK (Scotland) and I pronounce it sked.
Sked-jule , obviously
Another sch word pronounced as "sk." I was pointing out the inconsistency of saying "skool" for school and "shedule" for schedule when they are the same sequence of letters. They should be pronounced the same so if you say "shedule," you should also be saying "shool" and "sholar."
Pronouncing it the "shed" way makes me feel like I'm being lazy in forming the word in my mouth. I think I put too much into the end of my version though, I guess it's ske-jew-all (but the all is shorter than the stand alone word)
Shed-joule, it's a measurement of energy of sheds.
2014 Gamergate: "If you want games without hyper sexualized female characters and representation, then learn to code!"
2023: "What's with all these massively successful games with ugly (realistic) women? How could this have happened?!"
It's not from French. The typical suffix for elements in English when aluminium was identified was "-ium", but the discoverer decided to name it "aluminum". English scientists didn't like that name because it sounded worse, supposedly, and used "aluminium" instead. Aluminum is more common in the U.S. because it was used in advertising by some American inventor at the time.
I'm American and i pronounce it Mc-sked-jewel-donalds.
all we need now is a finnish version.
