Are video games a real hobby or not?

Makes me think, you are not doing anything productive, not socializing and not improving on yourself.

Should video games be considered a hobby or not?

A hobby is whatever you want it to be.

    Here you go.

Yes, it is a hobby, very much so. You choose to socialize online, just like you are just trying to do so now.

Video games also lead me to learn the English language.

Leisure not a hobby when I'm playing by myself. Personally, I stream the games I play and attempt to appease my audience as an entertainer, so that's a hobby for me, not the actual games themselves.

When I'm performing an activity for a raid, then it becomes a hobby as I'm preparing for a social activity.

Hobbies don't require you to do anything productive, socialise or improve yourself. I think you are mixing up hobbies with not hobbies.

There are other hobbies you do on your own, so the lack of socialisation or interaction with other people does not in my view dictate it isn't one.

Are we talking about hobby as in leisure activities or as in a pony?

A hobby is literally defined as

"an activity done regularly in one's leisure time for pleasure."

    Yes, it is a hobby

Hobbies are something you personally like to do in your spare time. Being productive, social, or improving yourself is not a prerequisite of a hobby. Yes, gaming in all sorts is a hobby.

Sure it is. A hobby doesn't need to be productive. Playing Solitaire is a hobby, and you gain nothing from it aside from increased thought skills. Much the same, video games offer you the same.
