The 4000 JP hard cap won't go into effect until 4.0.3. So if the conversion ends up giving you 6k when 4.0.1 goes live you can actually buy all you T10 without farming.

It's so funny to read the comments, it's like nobody else remembers patch 3.0.1 and how buggy it was and unbalanced, where ret paladins would one shot people, and everything else coming with it.

Then again the expansion was released after and it was flaweless.

So the last month before expansion = live beta test to fix final bugs.

Don't expect anything less. Especially with the amount of changes, this is why they will reveal the new Azeroth prior to patch, so they can fix all little bugs before 4.0.3

Interestingly, the EU trial site has the 13th as the date for the streaming client:

So either we're getting the patch a week after the US (which is not unheard of) or one of the dates is wrong.

I reckon it's more likely we'll get the patch slightly later.

The way I'm reading this doesn't allow for the patch to come out on the 5th. If the arena season ends as soon as the 12th, and the 4.0.1 changes go live at the end of the season, then 4.0.1 comes out no sooner than the 12th.

It's also interesting to note that as of a few minutes ago there's no news on the US WoW login screen indicating anything about the extended downtime that would be needed this coming Tuesday if the patch is indeed going live on the 5th. As much as I want it to be the 5th I think the 12th is more likely.

Also, I also am one of thoe who really doesn't want the patch now. Rather have the whole thing in one go when Cata launches and have everything to explore, instead of in 3 parts. I remember when the WOTLK prepatch was launched during TBC, how ridiculously OP everyone suddenly became and how lame the game felt, no matter how "short" the period was between that patch and the actual launch of WOTLK - even though I was at that time really excited about the class changes.

The only mages using arcane explosion are arcane mages (wonder if even they will use it) and they will be the last to whine, because they can talent an extra 80% reduced threat for arcane explosion what other classes/specs cant. ^^

Tanking as a druid will suck, because they are the only ones with 1 ae tankskill until 81, that can even miss, be dodged or parried.

I think the 5th was a mistake for the European site, to begin with, because doesn't Europe patch on Wednesdays? The 5th is a Tuesday. The American site stills says the 5th.

The Trial Account offered a Streaming Client available for a while, I recall using the trial account streaming client during hallows end event last year. The trial account streaming client is not the same as the full version launcher ... that is being enhanced in 4.0.1 with play while downloading feature. While I do suspect the trial account client update will take into account many changes and aspects of 4.0.1, I would be very hesitant to state that an update to the Trial account client is for certain simultaneous with the patch 4.0.1 being applied to Live.
I thought blue posts were that Arena Season 8 would end ( no earlier than 12 October ) and the titles/mounts awarded before 4.0.1 patch. If this were to still hold true, Patch 4.0.1 could be after October 13th, but likely the 19th or later.

The 5th would be awesome, as I wasn't expecting it till the 12th or later. Seems to me a November release for Cataclysm is quite possible if 4.0.1 hits this coming tuesday.
