    Question about classes.

In wow I play a Hunter, I am here to ask the MMO community what Star Wars class closely represents the wow Hunter class. Also what Star Wars class closely represents the Rogue class.

    Thanks

Honestly, you'll probably want to determine first - what factin do I want to play. From there the classes are better easily explained.

    As an example:
Empire - rogue class - IA: operative. melee dps and healer trees.

Hunter - well either a IA: sniper or the Bounty Hunter: Mercenary, or Powertech

I'd go here to do some reading

I wouldnt consider Powertech/Vanguard a decent comparison at all. Melee dps/tanking, doesn't sound very hunter-like to me.

That said, yes, the Commando/Mercenary and Gunslinger/Sniper are closest. Gunslinger/Sniper is the pure ranged dps class, while the others can also heal.

As for rogues, either Operatives/Scoundrels or Shadows/Assassins. Ops/Scns can also heals, other choice can also tank, both have stealth.
Actually, Mr. Lennon, I CAN imagine a world with no hatred, religion, war, or violence.
I can also imagine attacking such a world, because they would never see it coming.

No you do not need to pick a side first as each class has a mirror class on the other side. IA - Operative = Smuggler - Scoundrel, IA Sniper = Smuggler - Gunslinger, BH = Trooper.

It probably depends more on what exact aspect of those two classes you like. From my own experience in beta the closest thing to a hunter is probably a Sniper (mostly due to their style of ranged weaponry and marksmanship). The equivalent of this on Republic side is the Gunslinger. However, someone might be able to let you know which other classes have similar ranged styles. There are some abilities or mechanics in Bounty Hunter (Mercenary)/ Trooper (Commando) which resemble Hunter due to ranged style.

As for classes similar to rogue that is really clear cut: Operative and Assassin both have stealth and abilities similar to a rogue. There are differences between them though. Operative has the option to heal while Assassin has the option to tank (both are if they are talented for it). People find Assassin to be literally Rogue from WoW and I find Operative to be similar but not identical. The system of abilities in this game (with most abilities in damage rotations having cooldowns) makes you have to use a variety of attacks - so while these classes may not be direct comparisons they are pretty similar in spirit.

As for being a pet class, all classes are like that to a degree when solo or in small groups. Companions fill that role fairly well. However there is no class where you tame a pet to be with you in every situation.

Weeeeeell, yes pretty much, but one class does get a slave!

Talk to almost anyone playing a dark side sith warrior or inquisitor and I doubt many would think of their companions as anything but slaves. I know my companions will be treated like dirt, unless I can convert Ashara to the dark side. I will do whatever it takes to make that happen.
