That's kinda become a common thing in SR games now, almost expected to the point of "oh theeere we go, dildo fun time".

I've just discovered some bad news today.
So, I was going to setup shadow copies for particular files across my drives (did this a lot in Windows 7, which is a really nice feature), just to find that Windows 8 has a crippled version of Shadow copies! D':
File History they call it.... It only keeps tabs on the user profile libraries. It's nice that it gives the option to store it on a separate drive, but common! Just the libraries!? I'm trying to save space on my SSD here. I'm not going to move everything over into there just for file history...
I only do full system backups once a month, so shadow copies was a nice feature for the time between for those files that crop up after the backup.

Cyanotical has always told me omg you should get Windows 8. Staying on Windows 7 is just stupid, pointless, and bad!
I keep seeing more and more reasons why 7 is better.
Doesn't have Bing literally inside of it, doesn't have this bad form of shadow... and all kinda of issues it seems.
I'm happy with my 7 Pro key I got through college and I shall stick with that.
The main thing stopping me upgrading is inertia. And that is a perfectly good reason in my eyes. 8 has nothing that I need, that I can't get with 7.
Apparently 8 is more secure because it is newer... odd logic imo. 7 they are still updating and supporting, just like they updated and supported XP for... what, 14 years or so?
Yeah...security. Exactly how likely am I to get hacked? Exactly how likely am I to get malware or a hacker slip on to my PC if I have a working anti-virus, firewall and up-to-date OS?
Not very likely considering we've got thousands of machines at work still running XP. They are as secure as the firewalls/security around them, and pretty much nothing harmful can slip in past the proxy/gateway servers.

I miss Aero and I miss pressing WIN to see the clock. That's about it. :P
Spending money on 8 when you don't need to? No.
If you were doing a new build/replace motherboard, I do not see why not, though, and keep the 7-key with the passed down motherboard.
Oh I still like Windows 8. Just some small things that tick me off, like replacing shadow copies for an inferior version, or a half baked "Programs and Files" search in the metro interface (which is filtered into the settings tab. I don't know how to explain it if you've never used it.)
On a positive note, I got a new mouse. Replacing my Razor Naga (which has served me well and still continues to work) is the G600. I just hope the paint on the num pad doesn't wear away as easily as the paint on my Naga did. Looks so tacky with the light shining through it... One problem with the new mouse is that the scroll wheel on mine is noisy.

Y'know, I used to dislike how my monitor is glossy...but after seeing the image quality of a few other matte monitors (TN panels) in the store I think my glossy one is slightly better in terms of purely color/contrast. Darker shades are definitely more pronounced, the blacks are blacker and blues/reds seem more "true". It's an Asus VG236H 120hz for those interested...yes it's a TN panel, I know IPS panels blow all these away but I choose to rebel against our 60hz overlords :P
But at the same time, uber-monitiors like U2711 are matte aren't they?
