What determines sha of anger (and lfr) loot drops ?

Hi.

Im just wondering what is the deciding factor in getting loot from sha of anger ?

I was doing it yesterday:
I was in tank spec.
I was selected as tank role.
I was using 1h + shield.
I was tanking.

I won dps tier...

Whats the chance of a GM getting it replaced for the proper one (tank) tier ?
Have a feeling its something around -10000% chance

They clearly said something like: You have a chance to get something you can use . So for you it's either tank or dps gear

Correct, you get e chance to recieve a random drop from that boss which you are able to use.

I am not rly happy about it either, tho i have gotten 3 items i wanted and needed with the loot system.

ohh, was dead sure it was formulated along the lines "useful for your current spec" and not class.
Last tier i woulda been happy, but this tier i tank fulltime
Maybe was just wishful thinking

Its still a huge upgrade and has tank stats, so no waste besides the tier set bonuses :/

Coulda just been bad luck. I know yesterday I did a Sha of Anger, and I stayed in Tank spec, marked as DPS in raid, killed it, and got some tanking gloves. Last time I did it and go tloot, was Frost and marked as DPS..got DPS pants.
I ususaly just stick with being the right spec..I'd hope they would have gotten it right after all this hype. :V

Open dungeon journal.
Find Sha of Anger.
Proceed to Loot section.
Choose filter "Your class - Protection spec".
Check what items are there. If dps legs are mentioned then Blizzard thinks that they are good for your spec.

It actually lists the dps tier for protection spec, which is just silly. It has a DPS bonus, its DPS legs...
Ohh well, guess the itemization is good enough to use as prot, but still very silly...

it's because you don't choose a spec for sha. not in a way that the boss takes into account at least. LFR will only give you stuff for the spec you've chosen when you queued up.

that's LFR, not world bosses, and it's already in the game.

I think it simply goes on the dungeon journal list->your spec, give something from that list

looking at them the dps warrior legs have exp and mastery, 2 very common stats found on tanking gear this expansion, i guess blizzard makes the dungeon journal list based on those secondary stats, so mastery and exp=>useful tanking stats=>tanking gear=>tanking loot table
the problem is more with the set bonus

You may have gotten lucky, I've done it on my shammy alt and gotten enhance gear twice, while being ele.
