    That's the one!

Have you always been one of them blues, Arlee? Or am I just slow?

Of course not. It will look the same but not be the same. How is that a paradox?

I guess the question should be different. How much can you replace before you consider it a different thing.

If you take a car and replace a tire, it's still the same car. What if you replace all 4 tires, the engine and all doors?

Because people would say it's the same ship, but nothing on it is the same any longer.

I knew what it was, (it's referenced in Terry Pratchett's Fifth Elephant and I also think it's in one of the Eregon books) but I never knew it was called the Theseus Paradox.

A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies. The man who never reads lives only one.

Yes it should, but it's not and it annoys me now.

People are dumb :> If I replace your entire brain piece by piece, would you still be the same person?

The teleportation device is a better paradox that attempts the same thing. If I dematerialize you(effectively annihilating you from the plane of existence) and rematerialize you in the exact same fashion as you were before, would you still be the same person.

Both are nice but I think the first one is better? Hm, dunno, I think I'd go with the first one if it was me.

A brain and a ship function in different ways

The teleportation thingy isn't a paradox. It's the same thing. You can tear down a house to build it another place, but essentially it's still the same house. You just moved it. That's the same thing as teleporting a person.

Changing the pieces on a ship with pieces of the same function doesn't alter the ship.
