I remember when that first came out. Was quite the amount of fun back then. Then every 3rd person shooter for 3 years used bullet time.

Eh, the concept itself is pretty easy. Against most humanoid targets if you can work around to JUST the right angle and hit the light attack when you're behind them it'll do a special stabbing attack that does MASSIVE damage.

I killed it without backstabbing it. You can lead it to the building that goes up to the guys that throw bombs at you and just plunging attack it to death. Backstabbing and parrying take time to get down.

I'm not even sure he can be parried. I never really risked figuring it out either.

In most games no. In this game, yes. Just stick to the right and keep that shield up till you get down the stairs at the mid section and you'll be fine. Don't go back up after that. He'll kill you.

I just got stuck so bad in Anno I had to close the game and look up a Wiki. That game is freaking amazing, but it has no tutorial at all. Tells you to do stuff and expects you to figure it out

I think that was mostly the Matrix's fault.

But it was pretty neat in Max Payne.

Also again, make sure to get a shortbow from the merchant and about a hundred arrows. You likely won't need all of them. Shoot the tail of the dragon from the underside of the bridge (Right side.) till it comes off. Gives a VERY nice sword for that part of the game. As for upgrading...once you get the black leather set and the elite knight sets, upgrade those. Except the head, you'll get a MUCH better one from the next boss.

My usual approach to choosing armor and weapons in Dark Souls is
