I'm a pinch worried about neonatal heart block because that's (surprisingly) more dangerous than neonatal lupus. However! It is being carefully monitored, the heart has no arrhythmia so far (a good sign), and if it does happen, then we can treat with steroids.

I'm actually lucky that we found this out when we did, because we wouldn't even know to watch for it if I hadn't been diagnosed with Sjogren's.

Sjogren's is a cousin to lupus and shares many of its symptoms (Sjogren's can even present the classic lupus butterfly rash); however, it's not nearly so dangerous. It's a condition in which my body is attacking my fluid producers, like for tears and saliva and...stuff...and it can affect joints and all that as well. So basically at this point I have to use lubricating eye drops, go to the dentist more than the normal person, and just watch it, really. According to the rheumatologist pregnancy can temporarily suppress symptoms, which I'm seeing in at least the joint pain part of it, but the eyes are still quite dry.



It's a nice thought, but there is just no way I'm going to be able to not stare at the ultrasound screen at any point within the hour or so that this is going to happen. XD

Sjogren's is a chronic thing, I'll have it my whole life. So as long as I manage the symptoms, I'm good to go! Cheer up!
