    world war 3! reason? MARS

    hellow fellows,

so i read a article about china wanting to grow vegatables on mars.

    and then it hit me!
    nobody owns mars!

but what if it becomes populair and it gets populated...?
and then countries want to claim mars for there own!

so i think that in the future (im talking like 300y or something in future)
world war 3 will come because people want to claim mars(or some other planet)

this may sound a bit insane.............
but what are you thoughts about it? how are they going resolve who owns mars?

In 300years we will have world war 6 already. If we do not kill ourselves before then.
Also getting Mars colonized will most likely be thanks to a joint international effort, not single countries by themselves.

    So no.

mars is big enough for millions of people to live on.

if you look at a small patch of country the netherlands is.. and consider 16million people live here.
Yeah sure, mars is like 2/3th of the earth's size (correct me if i'm wrong) so yeah. no problemo

Even if this did make any sense, wouldn't the fighting be on mars?

And then the martian colonists throw the tea into the spaceport and declare themselves independent.

The only way were ever successfully getting to Mars and colonizing it is with the cooperation of numerous nations due to the resources and technological expertise required. No one nation can do it by themselves, it's damn near impossible feat with even the tech and resources we have now. I guess what I'm saying is that if we do ever get to Mars what your saying won't be a problem since it will be a combined effort to get there.

if the US stopped the war in the middle east we could have sent something like 18 curiosity rovers, or idk prepare for colonization.

We'll have to buy the land from the Wongs first.

Or we could just rob their casino and declare ourselves kings of Mars.

One thing to send a rover there(which was badass btw). Another entirely to design a spacecraft capable of bringing real flesh and blood people there(and back), alive. Have to deal with solar radiation, gravity, food, water, air and a million other things. I'm not saying it's not possible with enough effort but I really don't think one nation alone has the resources, technology or drive to pull it off. If it were to happen I would think it would be group effort like the International Space station.

America really needs to get out of that stupid treaty it made with Russia so we can finally take our rightful ownership of the moon.

You get the feeling something along this line would come up if colonisation of Mars ever became possible

Treaty with Russia ?! No one has ownership rights on the moon, not Russia, USA or anyone else. Even those moon property ownership documents sold be peddlers are just a scam as even if you bought such a document, you can't claim ownership.
