I wouldn't call it nostalgia to think it's ugly, I'm definitely not a Gen 1 apologist and I think the new Mewtwo looks like ass. Opinions.

Although nothing is confirmed, a very reliable source that goes by the name of 'Hiro' (or 'Pokexperto') has stated that there is in fact a new 'Fairy' type being introduced in the two new games. While it's been speculated by many people for awhile, the general consensus is, if Hiro claims something, it's generally correct. In the past, he has confirmed that Mewtwo's new Pokemon was a new forme, instead of an evolution, he has hand-drawn all of Gen 5's Pokemon before they were released (so he wasn't sued for taking photographs) and was scarily accurate.

Fairy type seems so odd. So many pokemon would fit it more than their current type.

I knew there wasn't going to be a light type since the dark type refers to mischievousness and not actually dark

Oh god I can't remember it's name. It has small fairy wings, no legs or arms, yellow with a like stinger tail and closed eyes. No evolutions. Looking it up now.

What's so odd about it? I think a new type would be a great way to keep things fresh, and Fairy's the only one that would really fit (or variations of it, like Light).

What the heck would fairies be weak to? Ganondorf?

Edit: Come to think of it, they could be weak to a couple of things, like ghost (ghost needs to supereffective against more types!), or umm..normal?

Gotta admit, that made me chuckle.

Fairy-type, huh? Sounds pretty dull, never really been digging fairy concepts, would rather have had Light or Sound, or best case scenario that no new types would be introduced.

Totally looking forward to this, I just hope there is a 'stadium' game this gen so me and my mates can get it on in glorious HD on a mssive screen, since we do it with quite alot of us, will be more awesome to see more than just face reactions etc or the Ds of person next to you.

Unphased about new types or formes tbh, if they do it right it can be fun, no new types for a while either maybe will inspire some new designs and matchups etc.

It might be just me, but I seriously hate the idea of "formes" in Pokémon. Evolutions are enough, we don't need them to shapeshift as well.

That being said, I actually like the look of the new Mewtwo. Shame it's a bullshit "forme" however.
