RP bugs me. It reeks of people not being satisfied with who they are--which in itself I don't have a problem with. What I have a problem with is that instead of changing themselves into a person they can be satisfied with, they'd rather pretend to be someone they aren't instead.

Just me.
It's just acting as another character for fun. I understand that SOME people probably have sinister thoughts about it, but there's people with sinister thoughts about everything.
It's not much different from actual acting or voice acting. If done right I guess.

I think you are looking at it way too deep.
Sure there are probably some people who are like that, but I'm sure most are just doing it for fun.
As for me, I don't really like to RP. I'm not very good at it and it makes me feel uncomfortable.

I'd say most actors have that problem. I've known a few wanna-be actors and they all have similar reasons for wanting to act; they can act like someone who has a fantastic life, instead of the boring one they were given.
You are thinking too deep.
Its just playing, and fitting a role.
I always wanted to be in one of those things where people play tabletop games and act like the characters they are playing, seems fun.
I always thought about it like those kids that play as mom and dad or school or stuff like that. Just adults.

Way too complex to be 'fun' imo. Plus, unless you have some sort of personality disorder or are born with a natural talent in the ways of acting, you'll just end up acting similarly to yourself, only with slight changes to fit in with the lore and Azeroth itself.

I would normally say that you're actually the one not looking at it deeply enough, but I can't because I do not understand enough about it and/or what makes it fun in people's eyes, so I'll ask for some explanations instead.

What? Is complex now the reason for something not being fun? That's silly.
