In the UK we class jumping out at someone and shouting boo at someone as assault, therefor a violent crime. Better to be the victim of assault or robbery than to be murdered.

Seeing how litigious the US is it amazed me they do not do the same.

To be fair, the specifics he mentioned are all true. Gas station attendants in late night or 24 hour gas stations often sit behind thick probably bulletproof glass, and the police do keep on hand on their weapon when they pull you over.

And if you're going to make a Canadian stereotype, they should be watching hockey, not curling.

We are more likely to report it in the UK, our Police are more approachable. Ours do not pull a pistol on you for fleeing from them.

Eh, wasn't it in the UK where a brazilian backpacker was killed for fleeing the police. Was right around the bombings.

Approaching someone in a manner that could make a "reasonable person" fearful is classified as assault in most American states, if not all.

Does that make a homophobe able to prosecute someone who approached them gay...?

One, I would like to see the data.
Two, how many end in fatalities?

No, they aren't. Semi-auto AK47s are perfectly legal, and are still AK47s. Full-auto AK47s are legal IF it was registered with the ATF as a machine gun before May 19th 1986, they are very rare, and last I saw one up for auction it was $15,000.
A gun is like a parachute. If you need one, and don’t have one, you’ll probably never need one again.

Thats why he was shot. He was looking suspicious, carrying a big backpack and fled into the subway when Police ordered him to stop. Police made a bad call but they were understandably nervous at the time, bombings tend to spook people.

Yes, we should all fear everywhere with guns because you know it isn't the fault of the people who are killing others with the guns, it's the piece of metal that chooses to fire itself indiscriminately into crowds of people...Even if guns are illegal you're still going to see crime involving them ALWAYS. At least give some of us innocent people who want to fight back a chance to do so without facing the possibility of prison time or fines or whatever for owning a gun.

Took the words right out of my mouth. I would also like to know when I made a reference to the stereotype Americans being stupid...

No such thing, the A in AK47 means automatic. You can clone it so it fires single fire only, but it is no longer an AK47. It is just like how an AR15 is not an M16.
