What ads does Facebook show you?

So they say Facebook can figure you out better than yourself sometimes with how they target ads at you.

    My ads:

    1. War Commander - some sort of strategy game that I've never heard of.
    2. A Ford dealership featuring Mustangs - I have been searching for a Ford Mustang to buy a lot in the past month.
    3. 3 different ads to dating sites. I haven't been looking for one. Maybe I'm male and single that does it tho.
    4. Facebook mobile - yes I use Facebook mobile sometimes.
    5. an ad for BBVA Compass Bank - never heard of that establishment.
    6. CareerBliss - Job finding - Well I recently landed a nice job and did some job searching.
    7. Ohio Department of Insurance - Uh, my job entails dealing with Ohio insurance policies. How do they know this??????
    8. Snow Lizard products - tech accessories - never heard of them
    9. Win a Starbucks card - I hate Starbucks and hate coffee and do not consume caffeine.
    10. Hot Latin Dance Party - Well I have some latino friends on Facebook.
    11. Nursing career - uh no idea where this came from.
    12. Men's Warehouse - yes I shop for clothes online

I supported a free internet until I was barraged by "OBAMA COMING TO TAKE YOUR GUNS" ads on this site.

I got sick of it, downloaded adblock, and applied it to this site, and this site only.
It is difficult to free fools from the chains they revere.

When you have a chance, could you explain to us mere mortals how blocking invasive ads leads to a "non-free" internet?

Edit: Skip the part where you say that "well something has to cover the cost of hosting all these sites that offer free content". That's the same bullshit argument the cable companies pulled when they started running ad's on CableTV in the early 80's.

Because I very much doubt that most adblockers are going through the extra steps of filtering just the "invasive" ads on select sites. It's more likely a majority of adblock users are just putting it up for everything, because the faster way is always the more preferred way.

I'm sure you can piece together the rest from there.

Someone who creates content online and realizes that the adblock culture is disgusting. People don't want to pay for anything nor do they want to have to be slightly intruded by anything either. They just want the internet to churn things out forever, quality things, without pay.

And really, I don't have viruses. Crazy, isn't it? I didn't have viruses before Adblock became a thing, I don't have viruses now. And you realize the last clause in your post supports my argument, right? Not sure why you capitalized the word that supports the pro anti-virus side, which I think is what you're trying to put down.

The trick to FB's ads, and to make their statement work is, that you have to actually maintain your ads display. The more you click ads away and rate them accordingly, the better the relevancy becomes for yourself. Just remove the ads you are annoyed with and select a reason why you remove it, at the selection menu. Over time it gets a lot better.
    These are the options:
We'll try not to show you this ad again.
    Why did you hide it?
    Uninteresting
    Misleading
    Sexually explicit
    Against my views
    Offensive
    Repetitive
    Other

Because of my dislike for Facebook, I run AdBlock+ on it. I'd rather not let Facebook make money off of me.

Thanks, downloaded this:P Hope its as good they say it is.

And I have no idea.. I log on FB maybe like once a month.. I got too many easily offended annoying relatives and people I just happen to know but don't really care about (from school etc.) so I need a good excuse not to visit their walls, know their birthdays or say nice things about their babies or "cute" (read slutty and tasteless:P) new clothes or haircuts.

Haven't used one in more than 10 years, I'm not going to slow down my computers with this kind of useless software when I can simply block the most common infection paths with tools like adblock, especially since it also enhances browsing experience by removing lots of annoying things (yay, video / sound / flash ads..).

OT: just tried to turn it off, most ads are work-related on mine, which is strange for a totally non-professional account.
