Then slowly throughout the expansion you were working your way up to eventually the Shattered Sun Offensive under the direction of the Sha'tar, in which both factions combined forces.
There was also a lot more of distinction in Outland, Alliance side there were some Humans, some High Elves, some Dwarves, some Night Elves, some Gnomes and Draenei. What more do you need.
They went way overboard with the neutral faction dominating the story under direction of a single "neutral" face in Wrath and Cataclysm.

The factions should go back the way they where in TBC next expansion(s). Taking their own path, the "we are not there to fight the other faction, but if you get in the way, we will not step down" kind of way, not the "let us all hold hands and share forces and stories around a campfire amicably" kind of way.
I agree. Getting tired of the neutral faction quest hubs being 90% of the expansion. Only a little bit of zones in Pandaria had horde and alliance seperated in their own quest storyline (95% of jade forest, part of kun lai, part of krasarang pre-5.1). They should go back to how it was in Outland when it comes to the seperation between the horde and alliance. Stop grouping them up underneath a neutral faction.

This is a new continent we crash landed on, with a neutral population of inhabitants. Why wouldn't most of the quest nodes be neutral?

From a design standpoint, it makes more content more accessible to more players. If it was split up entirely between faction lines, you would only have half the quests unless you made a toon of the opposite faction.

Maybe because the friggin humans make up a huge percentage of the fuckin Alliance like the Orcs are the majority in the Horde. God damn its getting tiresome to see this shit popping up.
Humans have what? A single kingdom? They were ravaged by the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd wars. How do they have more population than night elves or dwarves(now that all 3 clans are together)? Why does population even matter in what race gets lore?

The same was with Wrath though, and let not even talk about the Cataclysm zones.

Which is exactly as it should be. I don't think I should see or even care about the Horde story, when I'm playing Aliance or visa versa. Not like what they are doing in 5.3.
Really the story shouldn't be 1-dimensional: all against big baddy. But 3-dimensional: factional and expansional (big baddy). It would make it way more interessting to see how each faction from their own believes and traditions and strengths tackle the problems, instead of throwing it all together in one big pile under a neutral flag.

MoP is nothing like WotLK. WotLK wasn't a handful of people from each side who got shipwrecked. It was about each side sending full-scale invasions to attack the LK. Once the actual armies showed up in 5.1/5.2, the stories split and each side got their own areas.

Cata was about each side fortifying their holdings or attacking the other side. Not about shipwrecked people making nice with the natives to survive.
