Off the top of my head I want to say The Boondock Saints or Clerks.
Inception probably. Love that movie.
Putin khuliyo
Star Wars, probably. A majority of the movies I watch are either based on books or comics.
Oblivion was great
Rebecca - it won Best Picture, directed by Hitchcock, really really great movie
most of the modern stuff I've seen lately is remakes or grotesque Tarantino "homage"
The Intouchables, I'd say. I'm not a big moviewatcher, but I really loved that movie, can recommend it to anyone. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Intouchables I heard it wasn't nominated in US because we don't care about skincolour, but it's apparently still a big deal there, so having a black person in that role was considered controversy.
Or something.
Get over the skincolours, is the best advice I can give, really. Who gives 2 shits. I never realized he was black until I read this crap around the Oscars time.
Seeking a friend for the end of the world.
Moon (2009) seems notable for how it's one of those "man and technology" science fiction films, as opposed to the more common "killer aliens"!
It pays tribute to a few things, like 2001, but it seems to me it stands on its own just fine.
Ink was definitely more of a trip, though, even if it felt sloppy or just plain awkward in a few places.
well seeing how i saw Finding Nemo again today, i gotta go with Finding Nemo. oh words oh u make it so easy for us to break the topic to fit our needs
i live by one motto! "lolwut?"
I saw Django Unchained a few days, loved it. You might argue that it's not completely original since Tarantino borrows like no one else from other filmmakers and films, but the script was all his, and it was amazing.
Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo.
Silence of the Lambs -91
Just last night, epic.
Iron Man 2.
I'm not sure this fits the OP's request since it's an adaptation of a comic book character(and he said no adaptations)...
Inception is certainly a contender for me, I'd have to give it more thought to be certain though. I Saw the Devil came out the same year and is also a contender...incredibly grim, but wonderfully executed.
The Cabin in the Woods and Inception, both are pretty ingenious.
