Same way, no matter what you do in DA2, you end up with your mother dead, fighting Meredith all alone. This is how story-based games are: if you want to maintain high storytelling quality, you need to skip on how important the choices you make. Otherwise it would take decades to make Dragon Age 3, and by that time no one will remember the original title nor care.
