    DPS/Tank Meta BrM

    Title..

    Mostly 5Mans/LFR

    DPS meta all the way.

The reasoning for this goes like this:

You either gear to survive without meta, making it pointless when it procs, or gear to survive with meta, dying if it doesn't proc.

    BrM Monks die?

If you assume meta will be up, gear and plan CDs accordingly, and it isn't up then yes, you will die, that's why you use DPS meta XD

This assumes that you can gear in a way that reduces your survivability in the name of DPS. With Monks, the only thing you really do to change this ratio is run with more or less Mastery, and most BrM's ignore it completely anyway. Everything else - Hit, Exp, Haste, and Crit - will increase both survivability and DPS.

Also, more DPS = encounter is over faster = less damage taken. So as long as you can survive to the end with 300-odd less Stamina, you'll be fine with the DPS gem.

Here's a question on the metas, would it be worth using the Tank meta if you were going to single tank Tortos? Specifically as an aid for increasing your health for the drain life threshold and as a way to help reduce the damage from Tortos while you have bats on you. The idea is all those little attacks from the bats would help to proc the the meta effect for when you really need it most.

I switched to the DPS meta for my 10 man group, and really don't notice a difference in survivability. It is, however, pretty much a straight up 10% damage increase.

The damage reduction meta works against our tier bonuses. It reduces the amount of damage we stagger, and the amount of damage we purify. Maybe it's needed in 25s or heroics, but certainly not 10s. I'd rather have the ~1% crit and 10% damage boost.

If it was controllable in any way, I would say yes. But it really isn't. Receiving a higher number of attacks won't make it proc more frequently. It's much more important to just keep those avoidance buffs up and load up the healing so the shell never falls off.

The tank meta merely reduces incoming (physical) damage over time with uncontrolled mitigation. The non-legendary Austere metagem is better for EH purposes.

If this was a game where healers running oom healing the tanks was a meaningful (ie actually happens), then it might be a different story, but the total healing required on a tank is completely irrelevant. Just take a look at healing taken for a warrior tank vs a paladin tank on ra-den for example, there's a ~300% discrepancy and no one really gives a crap - the biggest warrior complaint is that they do too little damage, not that they take three times the healing of their holy counterpart.
