There are so many good games its hard to pick one and say its the best game ever but I put tons of hours into Diablo 2 and WoW, imo it would be one of those for me just because of how much you can get out of them.

If I consider best game ever as my time playing it, i'd have to say WoW, but it's mainly because of it's grindy nature, of course the game is good, but grindy as fuck.

For me it'd have to be chrono trigger or grandia 1.

I'd never be able to pick a #1 favorite game ever without changing my mind. Final Fantasy 7 and Link to the Past are the first two that immediately pop into my head when I think of that topic, but there are a bunch of others that would basically end up causing a huge tie.

World of Warcraft is the best game because of how much money it has made? Yea, that's a valid reason... With that logic, Avatar would be the best movie ever made, with Titanic as a runner up.

Listed alphabetically:

Mass Effect 2 - Only reason why this isn't my favorite game is the mining. I cannot name a game the best ever if I hated an element of the game so much.
Mass Effect 3 - Everything about this game was better than Mass Effect 2, but the ending prevents this game from being the best ever.
Portal 2 - Probably the best game I have ever played. Portal was insanely unique and innovative, and for Portal 2 to add more innovation and create more unique gameplay is just amazing. The humor in the game is a great plus. And you gotta love Wheatley.
The Last of Us - About 67% completed, but the immersion is immense, the story is great, and the switch between various types of gameplay is amazing.
The Walking Dead - Just started episode two, but already I can see that this game is awesome.

From that list it's obvious that I like storydriven games. I want immersion into the game. I wanna get sucked into the world of the game, much like I get sucked into the world of movies and tv shows when I watch those.
