I have to disagree. As far as my alts are concerned, there is a lack of casual content available at max level. I don't raid on my alts, but I would like to be able to do some casual yet difficult content on them. Blizzard has made difficult content only exist in one place, one which requires a significant time commitment. Even those who raid don't have time to raid on their 1-10 alts they have, and all other endgame content is very underwhelming.

    so much damage control.
It's just right, you can still wipe if your group is poor, but the buff system ensures that you will get through eventually. The loot is of a poorer quality than normal mode loot/heroic loot so people who are able to raid this have greater character power. which is good.

You have 5 mans, and heroic scenarios, you can get jp and vp to buy gear, additionally there is pvp content, countless achievements, pet battles, roleplay servers, rep factions with vanity rewards, timeless isle, and alot of collectibles and you can always play the market and make that gold!

Do you prefer puppies or kitties?

I've played on and off for all 9 years - do I win a prize? /jk

I always ask people who have been playing this game so long - "What is it that keeps you playing / coming back?"

For me it really is the carrot, I'll sub for a month, level and/or gear up a toon and start hitting the heroics/raids etc. grind, watching my stats and #s on the meters climb and climb... it's still fun to get more powerful. As soon as the gear drops/advancement start drying up and it starts to be "1-2 weeks without a gear drop / upgrade" I unsub and then come back next tier/expansion.

I think where i am at with the game is exactly the same as you, i just recently resubbed and have started to climb and become more powerful and soon i will grow tired with the game and unsub until the new expansion where i will play an enjoyable expansion launch as always!

5 mans are not challenging content, neither are heroic scenarios which can be soloed with just a bit of extra effort by most classes.

I am asking about the lack of challenging PvE content that has a casual time requirement, which their is none of. I want to heal on my monk, but I'd like it to actually be a challenge, not a pitiful joke. I am already on a raid team, being on two raid teams is a massive time requirement, more than most people can muster, but there is absolutely nothing hard outside of normal+ raids.

Same with me. Played religiously through Beta/Vanilla/BC, then each expansion, hit up the first raid, drop off, and just pop in off and on. I feel it was for the same reasons, to feel that progression, then once it became that "BIS" grind, just kinda, dropped off.

Maybe you can try to solo older raids and stuff? i remember for a time it was what i did for challenging solo content.

Do you still have the Light of Elune in your inventory, waiting for the perfect time to be used?

This is where I am at too. Been playing since patch 1.3. I did nothing but pvp on a hunter and did not understand just how op hunters were until 2 years later. I thought I was so good because I could kill level 60's in STV at 38. Looking back now I was that little kid that played an op class and thought they were good (I was 14) and feel dumb and nostalgic every time I look back on it.

Back story over. I also believe the BiS grind is what caused me to lose enthusiasm although I never realized that until you pointed it out just now.

I have only one of my original characters since then (my hunter) which has 150 days played on it with only 10 at 90. I played the most during BC loved it so much

Also in BC I started playing every class. I reckon I have a total of 750days played between all the toons ive made. With 500 on my main account and 250 on a currently inactive account I used to dual box old content.

Have you completed the brawler's guild on a melee character at 500 itemlevel? Have you completed the warlock green fire quest at 500 itemlevel? Have you completed proving grounds endless in all 3 specs? Have you completed the legendary cloak challenge scenario?

These are all challenging, soloable, and casual.
