What happened to the RTS genre?

Elite samurai also deal a huge chunk of damage to other special units and infantry, they are made fast but while they are better than champions, is easy to build 5-10 barracks and mass champion it, even worse if the enemy are goth lol.

Yes, but pikeman also dies by two hits from heavy cavalry. Not really a counter, as long as you micro your cavalry.

Sorry, I am not interested in discussing Starcraft 2 here or in the megathread. I simply compare Starcraft 2 to non-counter based games.

My favourite version of this is the RTS MMORPG hybrid - Age of Empires on-line - unfortunately all development on it has stopped - but a fun game. I am going to try Heart of the Swarm this weekend.

The campign is really amazing, i belive Blizzard perfected RTS gameplay for single player, i loved every minute of it (the story is a bit cheesy too), play it on hard, below its not challange

that mod is pretty lack luster the three new generals are overpowered where as the older slightly tweaked ones are still utter shit

Company of heroes 2 is having a free weekend on steam this week. Quite a nice tactical RTS for those that want to have a look.

RTS in form of AOE sadly died out. I really loved it and i'd love to see AOE 4. But no signs yet.
