i really couldnt get it lower than this without destroying ur gaming experience drastically. this setup will play wow decent at high settings but is also 60 over budget.

    $60 over isn't to bad....will the 400w power supply be enough ?

yeah. under full load, this system will, maybe under stress test, barely reach 300w. just added the 400 watt if u in the future will upgrade to a better gpu, which will make that rig to a very decent one even for the newest games.

If I can get a os and take it off the budget should I upgrade to a i5?

i would go for a better gpu. the i5 (non k) will actually perform a little worse in world of warcraft due to the lower clockspeed. though in some other games and multitasking applications it will perform faster.

heres a build perfect for wow and most newer games. added a better gpu and a 100 mhz higher clocked i3.

as for me i would go with the i3 build as it will have a little better performance overall (most of the games) due the higher clockspeed of the cpu and the better gpu. "for future proofing", if at some point the majority of the games will start using 4 cores (which i highly doubt will happen the next 3 years), u might consider going for the i5 and add a better gpu later on. anyhow at that point u probably will upgrade to a newer platform anyways. both builds though are more than capable of giving u a nice enjoyable wow experience.

    A 4570 would be a decent upgrade.

I honestly have no idea, and it's hard to tell.
But the benchmark chaud posted shows a 18-29 fps increase on 3/4 core over 2 core.

yeah at same clockspeeds the 2100 is 17 fps behind the 2400, thats what i meant, due to the higher clock speed of the 4330 it will be atleast equal to the i5. but i dont know, as said before both cpus will work fine and my leaning towards the i3 is pretty much caused by the better gpu. for reference i have a 660 and an 4340 (3.6ghz) in my backup rig and it plays wow very good on ultra (1080p), with fair shadows and i guess i have 2-3 settings on high (cant remember right now but think it was particle something density and view distance). as far as i can remember the lowest fps in lfr was around ~25-30 for 2 seconds when bl and shit went off.

That MSI they linked only has SATA...so depends on the HD from your wife's system.

Edit - In case you're not sure of the differences.

does the graphics card just bypass the integrated graphics on the i3-4330?

Yes, the integrated graphics won't be used if you have a discrete graphics card.

Googled the system, you should be fine using the hard drive (it's a 1TB SATA for others in the thread). Unless things have changed in the past couple of years, using big-vendor cases tends to be a exercise in pain. I tried to upgrade the motherboard in my friends Dell a few years ago (2010-ish) and the case didn't have all the necessary holes for the mounting screws. Unless someone knows better than me, I'm not sure its worth the trouble of trying.
