    Mozilla Firefox and Youtube issue

Sorry if this is not the correct forum to post this question but I figured it's more relevant here than in the general off-topic forum.

Lately I've been having an issue with with Mozilla's Firefox when watching videos on Youtube. The only non-standard extensions I have are Adblock Plus and DownThemAll, both of which along with the major addons such as Flash Player, Shockwave and the browser itself being kept up-to-date. Videos will play normally once but if I wish to re-play the video it simply blackscreens and stays at 0:00. Refreshing the page is fine in getting the video to re-play but I'd rather not have to do that everytime I want to listen to something again.

I imagine the most likely culprit is my Adblock Plus extension but I'm not sure what exactly I should whitelist related to youtube to re-enable the re-play function but still preventing those 30 second commercials; if anyone happens to know how to fix this I'd appreciate it whether if be explaining it in this thread or providing a more in-depth link elsewhere.

Are you using flash or the HTML5 player?

    It's youtube that's fucking up...

Try youtube center, a script for greasemonkey. It has a ton of excellent features (auto-load whole video, replay button, download button, disable autoplay etc etc)

First install greasemonkey, then install the script:

Tried that for an hour yesterday; apparently clearing browsing history = make firefox freeze.

I believe Flash unless shockwave itself is a different format; videos won't load without Shockwave for my browser using only the extensions I've previously mentioned.

I'll give this a try when I get the chance to look at it later tonight. Thanks to everyone's replies.

    1. If you have a vast amount of history, it can take a long time (15 minutes or so) to clear. Go get a sandwich and a drink or something.

    2. Try turning on the HTML5 player and see if anything changes.

Use Ccleaner to delete your history. That won't freeze.

I have sometimes the same problems as op and I would not recommend using this solution.
It did not remove my problems and it made my browser crash every 10sec

I suppose that could be it. Just figured that with my new computer it'd be able to handle the clear browser feature within a minute or two. And thanks for that html5 option, never knew about it.

I have actually had a similar problem to this but it only occurs when I plug a usb headset in. If it's plugged in every video loads for a second, then freezes and goes black. Refresh fixes it though. Don't have any issues when not using the headset. Good thing I hardly use the headset.

Try This addon. It worked beautifully for me, but make sure after you install it to go into the settings and check the option "Speed Booster - Better video preloading / buffering".

Sorry if I misread your post but I had also done the reset option; was one of the first things I tried after some googling for articles related to my issue. Still didn't fix the problem so after being too impatient to wait for the browser history to fully clear I just called it a night.
