    PC build help

I'm looking to go ahead and build my first proper PC. I've been using an awful laptop the past year and a half after my computer broke so I'm a bit out of it on what the current tech is and what to aim for, so I need your help picking out parts, if you would be so kind.

Budget: ~£1500 - I can stretch to £1750 if there would be a decent gain from doing so.
    Resolution: 1920x1080
Games / Settings Desired: WoW at Ultra or near. Most modern games at high or better. Mostly using the computer for gaming. Also important is that it has enough juice to run a Minecraft server whilst also running the game.
Any other intensive software or special things you do: I do a bit of video rendering using Vegas for my school-work (like short-films and music videos). Would also like to be able to start recording game-play videos if possible.
Country: UK, so UK prices/stores on parts if possible.
Parts that can be reused: None.
Do you need an OS? Yes
Do you need peripherals: I would like a newer monitor so that I can run with 2, using my older one as a secondary.

    Thanks for your help!

All I have to say about @flens build, that case looks like crap for that price
Why not pick one of these:

If you can live without an Optical drive, then I would look at the upcoming H440 case from NZXT with this build:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

    CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor (£239.99 @ Amazon UK)
CPU Cooler: Corsair H80i 77.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler (£73.87 @ Amazon UK)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD4H ATX LGA1150 Motherboard (£134.00 @ Amazon UK)
    Memory: Patriot Viper 3 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory (£117.59 @ Amazon UK)
Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB 2.5" Solid State Disk (£124.46 @ Amazon UK)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (£43.99 @ Amazon UK)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Ti 3GB Video Card (£565.49 @ Ebuyer)
Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply (£81.18 @ Scan.co.uk)
    Optical Drive: Lite-On iHDS118-04 DVD/CD Drive (£10.78 @ Scan.co.uk)
    Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 - OEM (64-bit) (£81.50 @ Amazon UK)
    Monitor: Asus VN248H 23.8" Monitor (£169.48 @ Scan.co.uk)
    Total: £1642.33

It pushes you to the maximum of your budget (~£1730) but that should have impressive processing speeds for rendering work. Gone for the highest-end GPU at the moment for the Shadowplay features and the positive render performance. You can get the Sapphire 290X Tri-X OC from OCUK for £50 less than the 780Ti I selected, which should give you massive render performance, but you lose the abiltiy to stream with low overheads through Shadowplay. You can lsoe the Optical if you go with the H440, which knocks around £10 off the build price.

In addition, at the price-point, it's not inconceivable to go for an R9-290 with after-market cooler and push yourself for the i7-4930k and an X79 motherboard, but that would really push your budget.

I'm not too worried about how it looks on the outside. My only concern is that it has a decent amount of space inside to fit everything in and have good air-flow.

Thanks for the list flens, I'm gonna hold off another week with any purchases just incase anybody has a different build to offer (not that there's anything wrong with yours!) so I can compare the parts and read around a bit to see what I want.

While I'm waiting, what things should I be picking up in preparation? Is thermal paste pre-applied to the H80i?. I'll need a network card (or a USB plug) - which do you recommend?

Also, I've never installed OEM software before. Is the difference literally that it doesn't come with documentation? It's still basically insert, boot using the install disc and follow the on-screen instructions, right?

    .
That is CAS 10, btw :P

@silus, if you think the person won't OC then don't suggest parts for OC system.
