Russia hosting the olympics is disgusting! (beatings of LGBT people)

I am probably beating a dead horse with this thread, but it cannot be adressed enough!

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?featur...&v=zMTbFSJ_Tr4 (very graphic)

In this video several members of the lgbt community is being humiliated and beaten in the streets of Russia, without any sort of consequences because Putin made it "illegal" to be gay. Why Russia is still being allowed to host the olympics is beyond me.

A country has the right to set any type of laws their citizens sees fit. And if their society as a whole deems it wrong to practice the acts of homosexuality, then they can set those rules within their own society. Don't like it? Move out.

Its one thing to keep it private within your own walls, and its another entirely to parade it around in people's faces just to make a point. Thats why they are being treated that way because no one likes someone else's beliefs shoved down their throats, especially the majority of the citizens of Russia apparently.

Nope. You're wrong. We're now at a point in our existence where we are a global community; our politics are based on pressures and influences from other countries, especially those who are active trading partners. Mind you, Russia would just do the opposite of what others encourage them to do anyhow, just out of spite.

This is actually a good time to invoke godwins law.
You sound very much like you'd be an apologist for the nazi party.....

Shocking people can still think this way in our supposedly civilised society.

The Olympics are a time to set aside political and social differences and focus on the spirit of competition.

The people trying push agenda one way or another are disgusting.

Not long ago lots of people would give Putin the nobel peace prize. As retarded as it sounds.

I'm not sure which part of your post is the most ignorant and offensive.

Residents who are persecuted under the law most likely cannot "just move out".
Government has the duty to protect its citizens and preserve their rights.
A particular country's government does not have the right to set any type of law its citizens see fit.
The whole spiel of "gays are okay unless they parade it around or flaunt it" is old, ignorant, and offensive. Grow up.
Being gay is not a belief.

Your entire post is absolutely reprehensible.

The guy in the video totally tried to push homosexuality down their throats.

No you are wrong. A country is a sovereign state. It is not for the outside world (other countries) to decide on the laws and regulations of that country. Only your own. And if your country wants to support homosexuality, then good for your country. Many socialist types would like for that to happen for reasons of power and greed, and controlling other people's lives, which is inherently wrong.

If the majority of the country votes for something they have the right to enact that.

I keep saying that about women's tits on tv, holding girls hands in public and every joke hetero-"normalitive" thing out there.

Seems like there a ton of parallels you can draw between this and the Civil Rights movement with African Americans here a few decades ago. Guessing it will eventually lead to the same outcome.

no, we need a shocked and appalled button.
Nazis operated outside of their own borders, there are plenty of examples of "leaders" who committed atrocities to their own peoples, and because of the stances like the ones you quoted, no one intervened.

It's disgusting, but hardly new, and as far as horrible human suffering the Russian behaviors towards homosexuals is fairly tame.

A country has the right to set any laws they see fit to govern themselves. If the majority of the citizens want to out law homosexuality, they are within their right (whether you think it is right or wrong). Thats all I am saying.

I really don't like this mentality of FORCING a nation to believe, support, act, or anything else you want to phrase it, in any practice, thought, standard or whatever of a select group of people. People are smart enough to govern themselves and elect leaders that believe the way they do.

Many countries have voted in their governments to help the smaller, groups that are trying to combat/help out there. Maybe seeing what your country is doing to help could maybe work for you?

I guess it's best just to put this person on ignore since he must be one of the following:

    (1) A stupid person who actually believes what he writes.
    (2) A pathetic person who writes horrible things to incite others.
    (3) A stupid and pathetic person who simply has a go-to list of buzzwords to troll. (Hint: Socialism has nothing to do with what you have alluded to.)

No matter which is true, this person is not worth any more attention.
