Not sure if you're being serious or just satirical of the lingo but here goes - "gen" is basically "generation" and encircles the generation of consoles to which a certain game is released. Next-gen usually applies to very newly released consoles, or consoles that are soon to be released. Right now, the PS4 and the Xbox One is considered Next-gen, as they haven't been out long enough to be the current standard and be called current-gen. This generation of consoles is the Eight generation.

Last-gen is, obviously, the PS3 and Xbox 360 generation, aka the seventh generation.

    There you go.

Seeing how it is the end of the trilogy, I hope they at least finish some unresolved plot points from Arkham City.

    1. Hush
    2. Azrael and the prophecy

You guys should check out the Easter eggs in Arkham City:

    HUGE SPOILERS!

I think they could expand on some of these and have a good continuation of some parts of the plot from City.

Both Wayne and Penguin look way younger than in Arkham City, I'm expecting a prequel that mostly ignores what happened in Arkham Origins.

It certainly felt like they put a lot of power in that trailer. I'll be honest it was pretty damn awesome for a game trailer.

More info from the Game Informer Mag.

    GENERAL INFO:
    - Next-gen only.
    - Single player only. No multiplayer.
    - Arkham Knight isn’t just the name of the game, it’s also the name of a brand new villain. Rocksteady is working with DC’s Geoff Johns to create the character from scratch.
    - Batman starts the game in the Arkham City suit, but gets a new costume early on.
    - Takes place in a central zone of Gotham City split into 3 islands. 5 times bigger than Arkham City.
    - The level of detail in Gotham City is some of the most impressive Game Informer has ever seen in a video game.
    - Takes place one year after Arkham City.
    - With The Joker dead, Gotham’s villains come together to try to take down Batman.
    - Scarecrow, Two-Face, Penguin, and Harley Quinn are all confirmed.
    - Kevin Conroy is back as Batman. Troy Baker is Two-Face, Nolan North is Penguin, Tara Strong is Harley Quinn, and Wally Wingert is Ridder.
    - Batman visits with Oracle in the game, she’s not just a voice in his earpiece anymore.
    - Cut scenes are all done in game, so it doesn’t feel like you’re playing a game and then watching a movie.
    - The characters are incredibly detailed. One has the polygon count of Arkham Aslyum, the whole environment.
    - Batman’s cape and character’s clothing reacts realistically to wind and movement.
    - All quick-fire gadgets can now be used during flight.
    - Batman can perform a quick ground strike to downed opponents.
    - Interrogations are back.
    - Batman can incorporate the environment into his combat combos like never before.
    - Fear takedowns allow Batman to take out multiple enemies in slow motion, as long as he isn’t spotted.
    - This is Rocksteady’s last Batman game. There will be a clear ending to their Arkham trilogy. It’s possible that WB Games Montreal may still make Batman games set in the Arkham Origins time period.

    BATMOBLIE INFO

Yup, got it in my email and damn near screamed like a little girl. So excited, I missed Rocksteady.

These are the kind of games that I feel safe to do a pre-order on (but I'll still wait).

    Rocksteady, receive my money please.

Joker's dead? He's not appearing? Yuppy!

If this wasn't being made by Rocksteady, I wouldn't even bother with it. After the debacle of WB Games saying "Yeah, we're not going to fix any game breaking bugs on Origins, but buy this DLC", I'm still wary of buying this one. Only because it'll pain me to hand money to a company that has such a shit mentality towards their customers. Love Rocksteady, but now I hate WB Games.

Thanks for the info. So it is after City, which is good since there's some storylines they could pull from there and finish up. All the info they listed makes it sound like it's going to be as great as the others and October 14th can't get here soon enough.

I know, but those guys on that forum used "current-gen" as well, which made me ask the question. I thought it was some specialised forum for something like a game engine or DC universe. Current gen Batman made sense.

If the games weren't so repetitive I'd love to play them. The "quests"/missions are even worse then most MMORPG's.

They sold me on the preorder with the words 'Play as Harley Quinn.' Seriously, you could make Harley playable in the worst game on the planet and I'd buy it in a heartbeat. She's my Achilles' Heel.

The Arkham games, especially City, Origins, and now Knight, are more about the atmosphere and story itself than the missions and sidequests (which do get repetitive fast). Asylum is 100% about the atmosphere and how it feels to be Batman, and it really favored the stealth aspects if you wanted an easier time of it.
