Possible deterence for future gun nutters?

Instead of showing what the killer looked like before he went on a rampage, we instead show them dead with bullets thru them and covered in blood after the cops shot them dead. Would that maybe stop a future gun massacre, maybe make them think twice about their actions?

I don't know. Just throwing out the idea. Probably dumb idea.

how can the image of a dead body stop someone that already has murderous intentions in his head? doing that would make them think they will "simply" die without paying for the crime..

I don't know. If I was psycho I would probably think twice about seeing my possible face staring blankly into space all covered in gore instead of some photo of me before I was dead was plastered all over the news.

Most criminals don't think they'll get caught. Some know they'll get caught, often because they plan on getting caught (e.g. suicide by cop, martyrdom, etc). But sure, there may be a few out there who might change their mind seeing a shot-up body.

Or just stop covering them. They're local events, let their local news cover them. If we stop giving them attention, many of those who only do it for attention or infamy won't do it.
