Rich Family Of 'Affluenza Teen' Proves What Hurts To Admit

"The parents of the teen who killed four people while driving drunk has paid undisclosed sums to three of his victims but has still not settled with the fourth victim.

Ethan Couch, the teen whose lawyer argued that he had 'affluenza' after his wealthy parents coddled him into a sense of irresponsibility, is currently in state custody and is expected to receive alcohol and drug rehab.

Youth pastor Brian Jennings and Hollie Boyles had pulled over separately at the side of a Burleson, Texas road on June 15 to help Breanna Mitchell who had a tire blowout."

Afluenza sounds contagious. Perhaps we should quarantine him.

From the sounds of it, we'd best take money away from these people immediately, lest they spread their deadly disease to others.

Amazing lawyer. It's a shame everyone suffering from povertyitis and barelyliveablewage disease won't be able to afford him/her/them.

Yes, quarantine him. Possibly in some sort of facility designed to hold people deemed unfit to participate in society.

This is really disgusting. So it's okay to break the law as long as you're rich.

Looks l like the law makers are suffering from retarditis.

Edit:- I also found this little gem..

Just to put background on this shit.. .the top picture is of Ethan Couch. According to wikipedia and various news sources he is “a North Texas teenager, who was sentenced to 10 years probation after being convicted of killing four pedestrians and seriously injuring two others while driving drunk. On June 15, 2013 he crashed a pickup truck into pedestrians. He was 16 at the time. In December 2013 he was sentenced to therapy at a long-term, in-patient facility,[1] after his attorneys successfully argued that the teen suffered from affluenza and needed rehabilitation, and not prison.”

The yoga, meditation and horse back riding are some of the amenities they have at the facility that is about $450.000 a year.

The bottom picture is of Cyntoia Brown. She grew up in a home with an abusive drunk father and a drug addicted prostitute mother. She eventually ran away with a friend and started ‘dating” (getting pimped) by older men. She stayed in deplorable conditions. The night of the killing, she just got her ass beat by her drug addicted boyfriend/pimp , when the victim Johnny Allen , a 43 year old sunday school teacher (side eye) who noticed her pain and talked to her. After hearing Cyntoia’s story, seeing her bruises, knowing she was underage he still tried to fuck her. What lead to the murder was Cyntoia thought he was going to kill her and shot him first..

She got no second chances after a long shitty life but in jail now at 25 she is working on her college degree ,still hopeful of seeing the outside world and trying to remain as reflective of her negative choices and be positive from her current position.

Finally the judicial branch of our government recognizes the harmful effect excess wealth has on human character.

Now we can begin the therapeutic process of relieving people's excess income from them and redistributing it, for the good of everyone. Starting with this kid and his family.

Seriously though, if this is a legit defense then living with a life of poverty and abuse should be a legitimate defense as well. This is sickening. If he's supposed to be killing people because his parents don't allow him to suffer consequences, what good does allowing his parents to hire a lawyer to absolve him of his consequences do?

Only a matter of time now before we see the first vaccine for affluenza hit the market.

It's a rather bizarre stance but it's not surprising. Throughout history many individuals have stockpiled wealth - either through hard work or simply through being born into it - and then later abused their situation by trying to bribe or wiggle their way out of trouble. There's a troubling lack of accountability for rich and influential individuals in the present day. It's not just limited to guys and girls like the one linked to the article, either. Just look at the amount of influential politicians who are involved in scandals and somehow get away with them despite those same scandals usually resulting in imprisonment for 'regular' people who engage in similar behaviour. That's not to say that every wealthy individual is like that, though.

It is unfortunate that there has always been, and will always be those who are to powerful and/or rich to be brought to real justice. Luckily no one is fully immune to vengeance.

Whoever that families lawyer is, is probably one of the most sought after lawyers in the industry today.

To get a kid off of murder like that, no matter how much money the family has, is a miracle.

    "affluenza (ˌæflʊˈɛnzə)

    — n
Also called: sudden-wealth syndrome the guilt or lack of motivation experienced by people who have made or inherited large amounts of money"

Oh man that's hilarious. A "disorder" that translate to "screw the rules, I have money!"

I don't care if he has that diagnosed as a real disorder, it's no excuse for anything.

It kinda baffles me that nowadays, when people perform heinous crimes (such as the drunk driving above), they get nothing more than a slap on the wrist, while others who have done minor/no crimes, or crimes understandable in the context of the situation (example: attacking someone else in self-defense, when they have the intent to kill), the law pounds hard on them without mercy.
