WoW's 10th anniversary pet tribute to Hogger

In the past Blizzard has occasionally given out battle pets as gifts to players for logging in during the game's anniversary period. Previous anniversary rewards have included the Baby Blizzard Bear and Onyxian Whelpling. This year is an extra-special landmark: the 10th anniversary of WoW, and the 20th of the Warcraft franchise as a whole. As a result, we seem to be getting an extra-special battle pet, a humanoid called Hogs, who bears a strangely-similar aesthetic to that legend of lowbie leveling: Hogger.

I love the choice of a Hogger tribute for the 10th anniversary pet. It's such a community touchstone for those of us who have played the game--if you've at any point leveled a human character, even to 10 or so, you've probably encountered Hogger. That may not be all of us, but it's many of us, and it's a great choice for the game's first decade of life. Here's to Hogs!

A completely new HD model? Personally I don't think it would be a proper tribute if it used a completely different model.

Over half the playerbase would be my guess, and if they know it will be only be a small amount who would know why they'd pick Hogger as a pet.

Horde know about hogger, just like alliance know about mankriks wife. These were both popular quests that went beyond factions.

Never mind, mini version of Hogger looks awesome; just saw it in a video. He appearently summons small versions to help him in the fight post Cataclysm.

I knew about mankrik while I was paying alliance long before I began visiting fan sites.

Not to sound ungrateful, but I really hope it isn't just the standard NPC Gnoll... because this model is over 13 years old, it looks terrible. That Gnoll model was in the very first alpha builds of vanilla Wow - it predates all the player models, and even most of the world itself.

A cute yet vicious custom model would be delightful.
