In that case, I'd go with losing my hand. Pretty sure there are way more prisons that are rather hazardous to ones health than there are those that at least try to rehabilitate people.

It all depends what kind of prison.

Prison in Scandinavia is like a 3 star hotel - So I'd definitely choose 10 years here.

If I lived in Mexico or something I'd probably go for losing a hand.

10 years in prison in a lot of countries could do way more harm to you than losing a hand. Big chance of getting raped, assaulted daily, even death.

I'd kill myself if I lived in a society like that and had no way out. That would be a nightmare.

I'd definitely give up a hand - I was thinking earlier today that I might get my arms cut off and replaced with awesome robot hands in a decade or so when they are superior to humans hands - ditto for legs. It's a strange thing to think about, but I think I'm ready to be a cyborg when that day comes.
