The videos and mini guides I've looked at are all mostly pre 5.3 and oriented towards survival hunters and I'll need to run BM for Heroism.
I did all of them as BM back then for the same reason and we had no problem getting golds (even with 40%(?) cleave). Our comp wasn't even great (2 warriors, lock, hunter, priest). Use w/e pet for buff and switch to core hound for BL. Should happen only once, sometimes twice.

That said, I did a few recently to help guildies; even with SoO gear/trinkets and legendary cloak/gem it's still a walk in the park for DPS. Ah and make sure your tank knows about binding shot and call for it. Stunning trash helps a lot.

Maybe you should set an example by scumming even harder.

Nah I don't need to scum to beat nnug in dps as with the shittier spec nonetheless.

Bit random, but is heroic wf TED better than heroic Haromm's for Survival?

Nope, during LnL, you are constantly downgrading ES crit % by spamming ES.

    It's a "DPS loss" trinket.

So someone suggests to me that Fervor > TotH for BM in "Burst AoE situations". His justification is Wild Hunt Beast Cleaves are going to outweigh your Multi Shot damage in "Burst" AoE (not "sustained" AoE, he agrees TotH is optimal there). I'm not buying it, but it does perk my interest.

I'm thinking to myself the only place I could ever see this being viable in current content is on Immerseus. For instance, my guild designates myself and the other Hunter to be solely responsible for adds in that fight. Do you think that saving Fervor for when all of the adds pop, MDing / Barrage adds onto the off tank, once they're grouped tightly Fervor >>> Multi spam, and get a few big beast cleaves on those adds, would outweigh TotH for that fight? Especially if we're only getting 2 or 3 phases where there are actually enough adds to get big AoEs on before they're cleaved down?

I can't think of a way to test this other than first hand, but what do you guys think? That guy sparked my curiosity with that claim, and I wondering if anyone has tested it.

Should only be using TotH or Dire Beast as BM anyway.

That's the rules I generally live by, but his suggestion just perked my interest. Although I'm not really buying it I just wanted to see if anyone had tested it in very specific situations (like the one listed above) for validity.

Never heard of a "burst AoE" situation lasting over 30 seconds. Fervor will only give you 1 WH-Basic.
