I predict that it will be revealed that government agencies are doing the things we (meaning our representatives) said they could and in fact should do. Then we (still our representatives) will act shocked and outraged that they did the things we told them to do, combined with the old "but I didn't read the law I was signing" excuse.
It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the beans of Java that thoughts acquire speed, the hands acquire shakes, the shakes become a warning.

Datamart.
Seriously?
What's next, Operation Fabric Softener?
Although...I suppose we are about to see more dirty laundry.
Human progress isn't measured by industry. It's measured by the value you place on a life.
Just, be kind.
Is your Government being secretly run by the cast of Monty Python?
First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.
It's the principle of the matter. If you're fine with infringements of your privacy for your security, awesome. But no choice was ever given to the people.
3.2 million "SCI" documents in that short of a time? Wow.
You're a towel.
But they tend to project the opinions of their supporters, otherwise they wouldn't have a job. People just like to point fingers at others than to take up their part of the responsibility. Internet culture has shown that when it actually doesn't want to something to pass then it won't pass.
People wanted wanted the Patriot Act. Some people were to dumb to know what they wanted, some are delusional, others know exactly what it meant.
Snowden hasn't released anything that people should be surprised by. Hell, he signed up for the job, did he not research it before he applied? Taking a job at the NSA isn't like taking a job at Geek Squad.

Yeah, we're is the actual cool stuff. I bet we stopped going to the moon because we actually beat Russia in a super secret space war with layers and mini Death Stars. Yeah, we suddenly stopped extraplanetary space exploration after the Moon, like the public is that dumb to believe such a half assed excuse.
We should be so lucky.
And on a more serious note, I wonder if a particular piece of blazing stupidity by old Gen. Alexander last year could have helped motivate a putative second leaker: NSA to cut system administrators by 90 percent to limit data access. According the General himself, "What we're in the process of doing - not fast enough - is reducing our system administrators by about 90 percent". In other words, the NSA was telling people with high-level clearances that they were going to be fired (sorry, "laid off") in the immediate future, while they still had full access. I've worked in IT for quite a while now, and you don't tell anyone they're getting fired without limiting the damage they can do.
Either way, yet more evidence that in addition to being actively harmful, the NSA is also incompetent.
"In today’s America, conservatives who actually want to conserve are as rare as liberals who actually want to liberate. The once-significant language of an earlier era has had the meaning sucked right out of it, the better to serve as camouflage for a kleptocratic feeding frenzy in which both establishment parties participate with equal abandon" (Taking a break from the criminal, incompetent liars at the NSA, to bring you the above political observation, from The Archdruid Report.)
Just so we're all clear, Snowden is a 100% traitor.
