    GPU fan falling off

The fan on the R9 270x broke off the center shaft; it is like the plastic at the top fell apart. I contacted xfx to send me a new heatsink but in the mean time I need to do something to hold me over. The fan still spins, I think its the magnet keeping it in place and the computer is on its side so its not getting yanked off by gravity; can I just put the whole computer upside down so the fan will sit better on the shaft instead of slipping every now and then? I checked microcenter but didn't see any heatsinks I could grab from there.

I don't see why not. If you have any mechanical drives turn the system off before changing the orientation. Lastly if you have an optical drive remove any discs that may be present.
