    Help Building a PC

Hi, I was in the market for a new laptop for gaming but after talking with some friends and doing a little research i found that it would be better to build a gaming pc. But I am a complete novice when it comes to building a computer and what parts that i need are, so i hope someone can help me with building a gaming pc. I was looking at either a i7-4790K or i5-4690K cpu, would like the build to be a bit future proof so i don have to upgrade any time soon, also it has to be able to connect to the internet wireless . If its possible to see a build for both the i7-4790k and the i5-4690k if thats possible

    Country-Canada
    Budget-$1500
Games / Settings Desired- Mostly mmorpgs (Aura Kingdom,ArcheAge,TERA Rising)/max setting
Any other intensive software or special things you do- not really, just watching videos, music, surfing the web
Parts that can be reused- None
Do you need an OS?- Yes
Do you need peripherals-Yes and No i have a cheap mouse a keyboard and will be using my hd tv for a monitor for a while till i can save up some money for new ones plan to dual monitors in the future and replace the mouse and keyboard

    Do both

    http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX55548

You would also need to add a desktop class gpu for the docking station, your choice.

    Linus review on it:

I can do a desktop build later, but just wanted to let you know this thing existed.

  3. #3
It looks neat buts its about double my budget after taxes and getting a gpu for it

  4. #4
Well not double, thats a canadian website. 2200 canadian dollars if you buy a gtx 960. Thing is with this you have both a desktop and a nice portable laptop, in the past gaming laptops were massive heavy things no one wants to carry around.

Ill post a desktop build in a sec for you, just wanted to show you that : )

This is what id do, just buy the monitors now tv's are awful as monitors:

Check out NCIX.com. They have prebuilt gaming desktops and can also build a computer from a parts list you provide.

not quite double but close once u add the taxes i will have to pay on the computer then shipping and extra gpu.
The build u posted u dont need to add the monitors i plan to use my hd tv for a bit then grab a monitor then eventually get the second one
this way i have that extra money for the build

  7. #7
Right but you can do it all now, for what you listed a 4690k/gtx 960 is more than enough. If you wanna save some cash or whatever just dont buy the monitors, build stays same either way from me.

Just remember most TV's do not have scalers inside of them, if you play a game at a non native resolution it will not fill the screen.

Here's a 4790k build that you can compare to as requested. For the games you listed it's overkill, but you have a budget that will allow a R9 290x which will last a few years at the very least. Was able to squeeze in a SSD which will speed up your boot / load times. Case as always is subjective, pick something you like the looks of / has the features you want.

A few things if you compare to the list above i had for you:

    - Sure get the i7 if budget permits
    - For 5 bucks get the Pure Rock cpu cooler
    - Mobo is a waste of money. The gigabyte MX gaming 5 is better and cheaper, even if you go for micro build
    - 120gb ssd in that budget is lacking, get a 240/256gb crucial/samsung
    - rest seem mostly fine, i would propose intel's wifi they are the best but a little more expensive.

Just a similar micro idea (add another pair of ram sticks later on if you ever need it):
