The simple notion of adding peas to guacamole has caused a Twitter storm, with Barack Obama taking to the social media platform to protest against the non-classic ingredient.
The New York Times (NYT) tweeted a link to a green pea guacamole recipe in which the writer described the addition as "radical" but also "completely obvious after you taste it".

The president of the United States quickly disagreed tweeting: "Respect the NYT, but not buying the peas in guac. Onions, garlic, hot peppers ... classic."
In a rare bipartisan move, one of Mr Obama's White House challengers, Jeb Bush, agreed, himself tweeting: "You don't put peas in guacamole."
Last month comedian Jimmy Fallon failed to persuade Mr Bush peas were a worthy guacamole inclusion.
The Republican presidential candidate told Fallon: "We don't do peas in guacamole my man."
The Republican Party of Texas weighed in on the debate tweeting the NYT "declared war on Texas" by being pro-peas.
Other Twitter users were not so diplomatic. One suggested peas in guacamole was a hate crime.
The publication's food editor has sent a tweet saying Mr Obama "will come around".
