    Value for money gaming pc

Budget is around 800 euros and I'm looking to half-futureproof. What I have in mind:

Unfortunately that is the cheapest retailer I can find where I live, most merchants like Newegg or Amazon don't ship to Greece or they make it very expensive, essentially making it not worth using them (also, capital controls).

So I will be using this: http://www.visionstudio.gr/makepc2.asp?system=4

But anyway, here's the pcpartpicker link to make things easier:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

    CPU: Intel Core i5-4590 3.3GHz Quad-Core Processor ($187.99 @ SuperBiiz)

Have a look at this micro build. You don't have to buy an aftermarket cooler, not now at least you can use the stock one.

Gets you the 4690k which imo is a pretty decent upgrade.

Except that this will not work as the OP has posted he lives in Greece.
And EU prices are quite a bit higher as well.

There's a good chance he cannot get either some of those components or they are quite a bit more expensive at that.

    Edit:
F.ex. Kostattoo linked an Intel Core i5-4690 for € 234,- (rounded down) which translates into: $ 262,-
    The rest isn't any better.

    Thanks for the help all.

    @ Kostattoo, some newbie questions:

    1. Why go for a micro build when I can get a z97 with a mid case for the same money? I don't mind the space (I actually prefer it), could probably have better airflow and stuff right?

    2. Why go for the 960, isn't the the 380 superior in every way (also DX12 support)?

    3. What's the reasoning behind avoiding Corsair products? I read some great stuff about those two particular products.

    4. Will I be getting more value from a somewhat cheaper RAM with a 500 Mhz lower clock (your 1600 vs my 2133)?

    1. No difference, are you going to use multiple gpu's? If not then why make something taking up more space than needed. No difference in air flow.

    2. No, 380 is not superior. About the dx12, by the time dx12 games are out and mainstream you will need a new gpu. Neither is top tier rather mid range and atm during dx11 gtx960 is a better gpu. Also even then all games will have dx11 support on them.

    3. About corsair pc case and psu. Case is fine but you can just buy better and since i went for a micro build i found a suitable case. As far as the corsair psu, the cx series is bad bad bad.

    4. Ram, no difference in performance, anything above 1600 is considered overclock anyway, you just save money.

So I'm on the verge of hitting "Order now" on this:

I'm still unsure about the mobo and maybe the case and the cpu (I'm considering saving 30 euros going for the 4590). My first pick was the ASUS Z97-E but I read that it has problems with the Gigabyte 960. What I am definitely sure of is that I'm never buying Asrock again (I was even told by the merchant that it would cause problems 1 year after purchase and that's exactly what it did, only 18 months later)
I'm pretty sure I intend to go for the z97 chipset and a normal ITX build, and not a micro one.

    Thoughts?

edit: I may have to repeat that ordering with a credit card from outside Greece is not possible due to capital controls and this is possibly the cheapest and most reliable merchant where I live: http://www.visionstudio.gr/makepc2.asp?system=4

The 960 and 380 are pretty much similar in performance. Although I think that the 380 has a slight edge over the 960.

You haven't specified what games you will be playing. If it would only be wow, I would say get the 960. If it is anything else, I would pick the 380. You can also have a look at what DX12 titles will be released within the next 6 months and see if there is anything interesting in there.
