Will they ever make a Star Wars movie about the cool stuff?

Lately been reading a lot about the Star Wars universe and to me it seems like all the really cool stuff happened way way before the actual movies take place. Just seems like the movies would have been better if they were made when the Dark Council was still around. I mean how can you even call it a "War" when all the Sith are pretty much extinct, there are like 3 Jedi left, no Mandaloreans, no Aliens, and the only real enemy is a small group of rebels? Why not make them during the Galactic War, when there actually was, you know a War going on?

Last year, Disney separated the EU continuity from the film continuity, so it is unlikely it will happen.

As far as the film continuity is concerned, only the films, Clone Wars, and Rebels happened. Everything else didn't.

Given the way Disney has been moving forward with the film continuity, it seems like they are uninterested in developing any backstory pre-sequel trilogy, and only care about the plot after VI, which is supposedly original material.

I think the newer books that were released is canon as well.

Pretty sure the proposed Han and Yoda one offs will take place before movie continuity, Yoda's definitely.

Well they don't wanna make movies based on their novels maybe? They want to expand the canon and do a remake of books does not expand anything. Because it is canon they must do a shot for shot remake of the books so because of that it's not really worth it.
Also the star wars saga is about the skywalker family, yes they will do spinoff movies like the upcoming rogue one and the Han Solo, but they will only be one movie. You mentioned the galactic war. They can not be made as ONE spinoff movie so then they must do like a trilogy of that spinoff story and atm they rather focus on continuing the skywalker story, witch star wars is all about.
