Ranked Play Overview

Blizzard has (finally?) made a proper overview of ranking and draft games which tells players, old and new, everything there is to know about ranked play! This overview has all the info on the new ranked system, including League Tiers, Divisions, Placement Matches, Promotion and Demotion, and the significance of Grandmaster League.

That's pretty much exactly it. It's been one very long beta. It took them over a year to start season 1 of HL.

Pretty positive it was afterwards. It happened at Season 2 or 3 max, and that was 3 or 4 max years ago, so Blizzard did that first for sure.

They have millions playing Hearthstone, Overwatch, WoW, Diablo. Make a cross-promotion, give people a skin or a pet or a few cards in those games for playing a few games of HotS. It's not rocket science and some people will stay, keep playing and keep paying.

Haven't been around for the first months of HotS, so no idea if something like this was done back then.

Starcraft II is also getting a ladder revamp, which will include some of the changes similar to those recently implemented in HotS and also display exact MMR for both players:
