Trolls will appear in the Warcraft Movie

Some people asked, if there will be someone else besides orcs, humans, high elves and dwarfs.
Suddenly, i found the Eurogamer's article about the one day on the Warcraft Movie Set.
Here the full article. Its pretty interesting btw, worth of read:
    http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/20...l-life-azeroth
    Here some quotes:
With night-time drawing in, we finally arrive at the Stormwind set in the neon-lit stadium to watch the troll raid. This is an early sequence in the film (or possibly a flashback, it's a little unclear) showing King Llane and Sir Lothar at their badass best.
Their pursuers; an army of twisted trolls, storming the Old Town quarter of Stormwind, cackling as they rip through the crowd, bouncing from victim to victim, sparing no-one from their savage attack.
The leader, whose kit is decorated extensively with ornate lion motifs, raises his sword, and they rush the trolls from behind. The leader's helmet is knocked off as his smashes into the first troll like a quarterback, flattening him. Villagers look stunned - it's King Llane himself, come to rescue them, with the great knight Sir Lothar at his side. The trolls turn in surprise and try to mount a counter-attack - one leaps off the Stormwind battlements at Lothar, who manages to raise his shield above his head just in time - the troll lands squarely on it, then backflips off, ready to charge again, only to feel the ice cold steel of Llane's sword slip between his ribs. Trolls fly in every direction, as Llane's army fights to save Stormwind - and watching over all of them is a dark figure, wearing a cloak made of raven's feathers, glistening like a thousand oily rainbows. He looks to be concentrating, as if painfully pulling up magic from the very earth itself. He raises his arms and then...
Read the full description in the beginning of the article - it sounds epic and brutal as hell.
Also, its not a mistake, if someone think that author mistook orcs for trolls. Its an early sequence or flashback with Medivh/Lothar/Llane trio, and also author mentioned orcs separately in the other part of the article. Also i doubt the orc can do the backflip, while for the troll its kinda signature move.

Cant wait to see troll's raid. They are mo-caped stunt guys of course.

Why would a troll raiding party attack a massive fortified city?

"Massive" cities are not always heavily fortified, or garrisoned, as evidenced by Rome itself even during the Empire's peak. Manpower sitting idly by has always been frowned upon, and the duties of garrisons were usually to repel minor assaults, assist the law enforcement, patrol for smuggling etc; and if they can, hold off larger forces until reinforcements arrive.

Trolls, as a barbarian/tribal population would probably treat bigger settlements like cities as ultimate prizes. In the real word, raiding such places was almost the only viable source of income for nomadic hordes.

Cool, I hope they look towering and scary, as they're not supposed to be relatable in this movie.

A troll dungeon at least. Every Warcraft needs at least one... or two if you count revamps.

If there are trolls in the movie, frankly, I'm more interested in seeing how well they're animated than anything else. I don't expect any significant story, this is an orcs vs humans movie. The movie will probably have short features of all of the races since, well, they're a big deal in the game. I'm not getting my hopes up for anything special. It'll have the same sort of visual excitement as Harry Potter: We'll get to see these in game areas that are rather small to fit the way the game works, in a fully realistic, more true to size scale, with their denizens. That was the original draw for Harry Potter. That's what the draw for Warcraft will be.

Trolls raided stormwind? When was this, some time before the first war? I mean it sounds cool and the flashback bits of the last guardian were pretty cool, but I'm a bit confused as to where these trolls are coming from.

It may be a flashback or it may happen shortly before the arrival of the orcs. Humans dealt with trolls fairly often before the First War, it's not a huge stretch to show a few of them sneaking into the city, and it's a nice way of introducing Llane, Lothar and Medivh in battle before the actual war.

I was just hoping Tauren would make an appearance personally, but that's looking unlikely.

Well its not Zul,jin and the forest trolls, so it must be Gurubashi tribe that hunts in Stormwind.

Are we sure the author knows what a troll is and isn't mistaking them for an orc or ogre?

Then again blizzard did say the movie is it's own separate canon.

I would also like to know. Tauren are my favorite race in Warcraft lore but sadly I am severely lacking in overall knowledge of the warcraft universe. I regret skipping all of the quest text over the past 7-8 years =P

It'd certainly be before the First War. Probably as an introduction to the main human
trio, as well as showing that they're more than capable of fending off non-human
    threats to Stormwind.

As to where they come from, I'd say Stranglethorn isn't too much of a stretch, as
Duskwood wasn't all haunted at this time, and attacking either by sea or scaling the
walls wouldn't be too odd for a band of mad trolls.

I thought as much too back when this came out, but there's no way orcs or ogres
would act / react the way these beasts are described as doing (flipped off of shields,
getting tackled by a human, etc.)

As for the trolls, I hope they have similar grunts to those we know and love... plus the
accents would be great to hear.

I would love to see Lothar block an ogre attack from above and then have the ogre do a back flip off his shield.

Thats rather lengthy, but the Troll attack was written into the book before the movie. Trolls attacking Stormwind, if that happens in the movie is just another addition to the lore. Doesn't really have any purpose, they are just a filler enemy.

The Orcs met them when Thrall took them over the ocean to Kalimdor, which is obviously quite into the future.
