The Country Music, Rockabilly, Punk Rock scene lost a real one. As Mojo Nixon passed away last night.

A self-described voice of “the doomed, the damned, the weird,” he was known for satirical songs like “Elvis Is Everywhere” and “Destroy All Lawyers.”

He had a legendary team up album with Jello Biafra, Prairie Home Invasion. Mojo’s song about the Hamlet chicken plant burning and all the dead workers is a genuinely great protest song.

His “Debbie Gibson Is Pregnant With My Two-Headed Love Child,” with Winona Ryder, was too controversial for MTV.
